November 1, 2015 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00 am The Two Ways of Life
The = indicates everyone standing, when possible. The prelude (11:00) and postlude are by G. F. Handel (1685-1759), Born in Germany, Handel was educated in Hamburg and Italy. He eventually settled in London in 1712 and became a naturalized British subject. Most famous for his oratorio "Messiah," he enjoyed many other successes and was very popular during his lifetime. He is buried in Westminster Abby in London. This hymn is a prayer that God would help us to worship Him through the Word and Communion, to take our worship out into the world, and to look forward to the final banquet at the end of time, which Communion is a picture of. Please sign the attendance pad in the pocket on each pew. (In the balcony, pass it across both aisles as well.) The ushers will collect the pages with the offerings. Thank you. Gathering in Shared Worship Votum Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. People: Amen Prelude 8:00 - Simple Aveu Francis Thome 9:30/11:00 - Aria G. F. Handel Welcome and Announcements = Responsive Call to Worship Leader: Friends, this is the joyful feast of the people of God! Men and women will come from east and west and from north and south, and sit at the table in the kingdom of God. People: Praise the Lord! Leader:The Lord s name be praised. People: Almighty God, you have set a table before us, and called us to feast with you. Prepare us in mind and spirit to minister in your name, and to honor your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen. = Hymn As We Gather at Your Table As we gather at your table, as we listen to you word, Help us know, O God, your presence; let our hearts and minds be stirred. Nourish us with sacred story till we claim it as our own; Teach us through this holy banquet how to make Love s vict'ry known. Turn our worship into witness in the sacrament of life; Send us forth to love and serve you, bringing peace where there is strife. Give us, Christ, your great compassion to forgive as you forgave; May we still behold your image in the world you died to save. Gracious Spirit, help us summon other guests to share that feast Where triumphant Love will welcome those who had been last and least. There no more will envy blind us nor will pride our peace destroy, As we join with saints and angels to repeat the sounding joy. Words: 1989 Hope Publishing Company

Message The Two Ways of Life Joel Esala = Affirmation of Faith The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Communing Together = Hymn of Preparation Let Us Break Bread Together 447 vs. 1,2 Let us break bread together on our knees, on our knees; Let us break bread together on our knees, on our knees. Refrain: When I fall on my knees, with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me. Let us drink wine together on our knees, on our knees. Let us drink wine together on our knees, on our knees. Refrain Celebration of the Lord s Supper Sharing the Bread and Cup Our communion is open to all believers who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ. Before we share the bread, the pastor will instruct us to hold the element until all have been served, so we may commune together as one body. Before we share the cup, the pastor will instruct us to drink it after a private moment of reflection to acknowledge one s individual relationship with the Lord.
Prayers of the People and the Lord s Prayer Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Responding with Thanksgiving in Mission = Hymn May the Mind of Christ Our Savior May the mind of Christ my Savior Live in me from day to day, By His love and power controlling All I do and say. May the Word of God dwell richly In my heart from hour to hour, So that all may see I triumph Only through His power. May the peace of God my Father Rule my life in ev rything, That I may be calm to comfort Sick and sorrowing.
