Dear Brother Knights, Happy Birthday America!! Please take a moment and thank a veteran this month. Many brave men and women serve and have served our country to provide the vary freedom that many of us take for granted. Many of them paying for that freedom with their lives. Thank you to all my brother Knights who have died, served and currently serve for providing a safe place for myself and family. May GOD's blessings always be upon you. As our fiscal year begins, let us continue to uphold the founding benchmarks of the Knights of Columbus as we serve our families, parish and community. This year will bring some challenges that can be met with new ideas and TEAMWORK. We have a sound financial plan and an eager TEAM of officers to lead us. I ask that all my brother Knights take an active role in OUR Council and aid in the betterment and expansion of our future as a Council. There are no bad ideas and all suggestions are welcomed. With Unity and Fraternity through Charity in the name of Jesus Christ, all things are possible!! MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!! DATES TO REMEMBER: July 7: July 8: July 19: Officers' Planning meeting @ 7:30pm Business meeting @7:30pm, Rosary @ 6:45pm, Installation of Officers @ 7pm (Families of officers welcome for Rosary and installation) State Tour meeting @ 1pm @ Seton Parish As always, my family and I will continue to pray for you and yours. Your Brother in Christ, Michael Sillings Grand Knight America s Birthday - 4 July 2015

Business Meeting Notes - June 10, 2015 Grand Knight Mike Sillings opened the meeting at 7:30. Roll Call of Officers: All were present with the exception of our Chaplain, Chancellor, Warden, Trustee 2 yr. and Lecturer. All were politely excused. The minutes of the last meeting were motioned for approval by Wayne Patterson, seconded by Edd Chinnock, voted on and passed. Chaplain s Report: Brother Frank Piper was absent and thus, there was no report. Membership and Reading of Applications: Two additions were presented by new Membership Chair, Shawn Roberts: Albert Ditommaso is a readmission and an original charter member of the Council. It will be great to have him back! Fr. James Klima is a transfer in! He is finally switching his Council membership to us! I guess we just never asked him to make the switch. We are indeed honored and happy to have him as "one of ours"! Grand Knight s Report: Brother Knight Mike Sillings reported: Brothers Mike Sillings and Wayne Patterson went to the State Convention where we earned the "Power of One" award. This award came due to us adding at least one, new member per month for the fiscal year! Thank you Brother Frank Piper and the degree team for your effort here. We also received the "Light of Ohio" award for completing and entering all yearly programs and finishing way over the 1,000 point level. We are an active Council! Thanks go to Dick Petersen for all of his tremendous efforts in keeping us up to date and sending in the reports on all of our activities! We also received the fifth place award for total program points gained state-wide. Go us! The latter was awarded at the banquet and GK Sillings was very proud to receive this award on our behalf. We can all be proud of our work knowing how much we serve and benefit others. Brother Sillings next gave thanks to those who attended and assisted with the celebration for Fr. Brian O'Connor the mass, honor guard, and meal afterwards. Fr. Brian was presented his "Of the Year" award at the party and was also presented with our gift to him of his Mass Kit, which he greatly appreciated as well. He reportedly has already broken in this kit saying Mass on-the-road in many locations around the area and beyond. Our GK's last note was a reminder that Officer Installations will precede the July meeting. Treasurer Report: Brother Dan Murphy read the numbers and stated our situation is more than sound for now. Financial Secretary Report: Brother Frank Hare then read a year end, super long, list of bills. He also declared our Membership at 267 strong! Our Grand Knight is still attempting contact to 28 members with outstanding dues. The bills were motioned to be sent to the trustees for review and initialing, voted upon, passed, and then delivered and paid. Report of the Trustees: No Report. Chancellor s Report: Brother Frank Piper was absent and thus, there was no report. Recorders Report: No report did this guy ever give a report? Report on Programs and Committees: Membership Committee Report: Brother Shawn Roberts announced new member Ted Shaffer, who recently moved here from the Cleveland area and is looking forward to becoming active. Program Director: Brother Dick Petersen was absent, but his work for the fiscal year is complete and so we begin again. Church Director: Brother Wayne Patterson announced that the Tour Meeting is scheduled for at July 19 here in our PAC. Our Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, and Treasurer will attend to receive the guidelines on the Programs outlined for our next fiscal year. The State Convention for next year is scheduled one week earlier in May so as finally not to conflict with Memorial Day. Our Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight should clear calendars to attend. Brother Patterson also thanked all for attendance at the Ordination Mass where as I understand it he should be thanked for taking charge of the "Guard" as well as all the preparation he spear-headed for the Mass of Thanksgiving and Celebration at Seton. Way to slow down, Wayne! Community Director: Brother Thom Laughery informed us that Measure Up collected large funds to be sent to Supreme or State and our return check will go to Fairfield MRDD. John Pekar will come to a meeting to accept this and push support on a November ballot issue. The ladies who we assisted monetarily and physically with the book purchase and distribution following Easter Masses will come to thank us at a future meeting and introduce their next project. Council Director: Brother Frank Piper was absent and thus, there was no report. Family Director: Brother Ryan Anderson was absent and thus, there was no report. Youth Director: Brother Jesse Garcia was present, but still declared no report. Squires Report: Brother Tim Bowie was absent and thus, there was no report, but the year-end State Meeting is coming! Right to Life Director: Brother Edd Chinnock was present, but (for the first time in infinity) had no report!! The members were shocked! Report of Committees: Festival Committee: The Food Truck at the festival will be run by Steve Patterson. A new Convection Oven is ready for the fair and help is needed with installation. Contact Brother Hare. Car Show: The "show" is Friday! Come! Have fun. Help is needed with food and parking directions. Late note okay, maybe not. The first show was postponed due to stormy weather. It was rescheduled for 6/26 and unfortunately the same fate resulted. Look for an announcement of the next attempt coming soon. Seton Open: The Seton Open (where we manage the kitchen for the event is coming) and we need someone to run the food or do we? Confusion exists as to the conflict between the Open, the Golf League Outing, and the Festival. MORE LATER. Business Meeting Minutes (Continued on page 3) 2

Business Meeting Minutes (Continued from page 2) Unfinished Business: MOTION: Funding the Brian O'Connor reception will be paid by the Council in an amount of up to $XXXX. This was voted upon and passed. New Business: Our budget for the next few years will be tight. We have been great the past several years for sending out all we take in which is what we are charged to do! However, our fund-raising for the next few years will be affected due to church renovation and the closure of the PAC. We will have limited income and will need to curtail expenses. Dues will be our main income. Expenses will still be about $XXXX. The drain will put our checking in jeopardy. We have to make significant budget cuts for next year and possibly the year after. Budget was motioned for acceptance. MOTION: Brother Wayne motioned for the money we received from the sale of Ed Loch goods to be used for the purchase of a new Memorial Stone, as we are running out of space for plaques on our present one. We have space for six more. We Discussion ensued in the area of will Bernadette be pleased. MOTION: Brother Jesse Garcia asked for XXX to feed the Leadership Team retreat group in the amount of XXX. Brother Wayne seconded. No lively discussion and we passed the motion. Discussion occurred on the creation of a Benevolent Committee to handle special requests coming in to our Council from the Church and Parish. Please send the charter and guidelines in this newsletter. Report of the Fourth Degree: No report. Field Agent Report: Brother Stan Krulia spoke and had no report, but congratulated for our first degree member and what our Council on all we do!! Brother Krulia extended congrats on our success with our Measure Up fund donation and it going to a good cause! Finally, he congratulated us on all of Awards won at State, emphasizing that they are not door prizes, but are hard-earned and well-deserved! We did good. District Deputy Report: No Report. Brothers in Need: Please keep in your prayers Frank Sanderell, Frank Hare, the Mike Obert family, Ryan Schneider, Mary McComb, Linda Capwill, Jeff Snapp, Elmer and Marjorie Miller, Jim and Margie Patterson, Maureen Patterson, Mark Knight, the Delille family following the suicide of daughter Cora, and all of our military and priests. Mike Sillings thanked all for help this year with all of the changes and will look forward to the next year as your GK. The meeting closed at 8:35 PM. Mike Croyle. Recorder 3
