WHY THE CHURCH? 2018 MINISTRY PLAN

highlights from this year 35,000+ meals packed 1,973 guests attended 91 baptisms 1,000 volunteers for Serve Sunday $986,312 funded to missions 81 married couples mentored Power of 7 vision Our Power of 7 vision is to develop people to begin 7 new relationships to impact 70 neighborhoods, 7 cities, and 7 countries. 1

WHY THE CHURCH? Why do we choose to invest our time, our talents, and our finances in the Church? Why do we give our lives in partnership with the Church? Because God loves the world and He sent Jesus to redeem the world. Jesus died for all of us and He asks us to believe and receive His free gift of eternal life. Jesus sends the Church to share His hope. And then He told them, Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Mark 16:15 (NLT) God has chosen the Church to deliver the Good News of Jesus to the entire world because Jesus changes everything. He did not choose to use angels, He chose to use us. Through relationships, we are able to connect people to Jesus to experience His greater life! Through His Spirit we re better together. God is using you to INFLUENCE relationships, to IMPACT neighborhoods, to TRANSFORM cities, and to ENGAGE countries. This is why you and I choose the Church. Thank you for your generous giving and your faithful service to Christ and His church. Pastor Tom 2

TO INFLUENCE 7 Relationships We operate on the principle that there is always room for one more person in our circle of friends. We are encouraged as we see you intentionally building 7 relationships to invite people to connect with Jesus to experience His greater life. Pray with your prayer partners for 7 relationships you can introduce to Christ. 3

Jada s story Who knew that a simple invite to church would change Jada s family? Her aunt invited her to come visit our Columbia Campus. Jada had been searching for a church home, and found it was hard to get connected as a single mom. Once she started coming to TSC, she was invited to a Connect Group. I started forming connections. They took me under their wing and cared for me says Jada. She learned how to read God s Word for herself and prayed with her friends for her dad s salvation. A few months later, her dad accepted Jesus on Father s Day. What greater gift could you give than the gift of Jesus? Watch her story at TSClife.org/story. Sellers Family story Wes and Samantha Sellers starting coming to TSC b.c. (before children) in 2004. We knew there were many places to invest our time and resources, but we chose to make our core relationships through our church. As our family grew, TSC helped us teach our kids to love Christ and love people, says Wes. This year, their youngest son, Henry, made a personal decision to follow Jesus and Wes was able to baptize him. 4

TO impact 70 neighborhoods We are launching families into our communities to demonstrate the love of Christ. Thank you for being the Church to impact more than 70 neighborhoods this year. serve sunday TSC and four other churches worked and prayed over 32 different schools in Williamson and Maury County. We landscaped, painted, cleaned, and pressure washed on a Sunday as a service of worship. Because we love Christ, who served us, we serve others. Pray with your family for open doors to impact your neighbors for Christ. 5

VBS Wow 740 volunteers served 1,330 kids on two campuses this year! 220 kids made a decision to take a next step in their relationship with Jesus. 30+ kids demonstrated their decision by being baptized. We reached 148 people who were not connecting to a local church. Berry Farms TSC member Rebecca Snipes embraced the opportunity for our church to host a kids booth at the Farmer s Market in Berry Farms. TSC staff and volunteers created a fun booth once a month as a way to interact with our neighbors and invite them to TSC. 6

to TRANSFORM 7 cities Through church planting and campuses, we plan to transform: Thompson s Station, TN Columbia, TN Cincinnati, OH Las Vegas, NV One more city One more city One more city Pray with your Connect Group for cities to be transformed by the Church living the gospel. 7

Las Vegas, NV the well church plant 150 people attended the one-year anniversary service 12 baptisms on September 12 Stats have shown that it takes five years for a church plant in Las Vegas to reach 40 people. God is clearly moving through The Well Church to reach this community! cincinnati, OH grace point fellowship church plant 128 people attended the two-year anniversary service 29 baptisms this year Grace Point Fellowship is now under contract to purchase an old Grainger warehouse between the Franklin and Springboro areas to serve as their permanent building. 8

to engage 7 countries We send our families to partner with the Church in other countries to enable them to be the light of Christ in their community. We currently partner (shared long-term plan) in four countries and are exploring partnerships with the local church in six other countries. Here are the countries in these two groups: Partner Countries: Nicaragua Guatemala East Asia Uruguay 11 Exploring Countries: Kosovo/Albania Mexico (Mazatlán) Haiti India Senegal Rwanda Pray with our church for the Kingdom of God to advance in these countries.

Brent Jones has led 15 teams over 12 years in partnership with Chosen Children Ministries to build facilities for churches to gather and minister to their barrios (neighborhoods). I go because I know that supporting the Church in Nicaragua is going to have a lasting impact for their country. I take men with me, because I know how the trip will change their lives, says Brent. In a place this poor where everyone is struggling, the church is caring for the least of these. On the night we dedicated the church, one gentleman s two friends carried him to service in a plastic lawn chair and set him in front. He is surviving only because the church cares for him. NICARAGUA Jon and Jackson Dodd As a dad, I wanted my son to be affected. I didn t want Jackson to just see a third world country. I wanted him to hurt for what hurts God. John Dodd As soon as you step off the plane, it just hits you, Wow! This is rough. You feel heavy. The kids will be shy, but then as soon as someone makes contact, they all come over. Guatemala We are grateful for eight years of partnership with Shalom Baptist Church. This year we were part of the grand opening of the new church facility in Los Conchos, which also serves as a community center. Our TSC team coordinated with eight other churches from Middle TN this year. Providing VBS, food distribution and prayer ministry, our team saw many connect with Jesus to experience His greater life. Among the greater things we saw were the miracles of sickness overcome by God, in response to His people praying. Gelen (Helen) Three years ago she had several brain aneurysms and the doctor said she would not live. If she did, she would not be able to speak or walk. What is impossible with man is possible with God Luke 18:27. Not only can Gelen walk and talk, but she has also graduated law school with the help of Compassion International. Derek This is the little boy for whom we built a home two years ago, so that he could recover from his chemotherapy. He has cancer in his right eye. But praise God he is in remission and doing wonderfully! 14

2018 ministry plan $4,176,869 We will prioritize the financial gifts into three strategic initiatives: Gather $1,064,924 (worship, prayer, preaching)* Go $1,238,029 (missions, cooperative giving)* Grow $1,873,916 (adult, student, children, preschool)* Missions Funded Above the Tithe (included in Go) * Related expenses including personnel and debt Missions Funded Above the Tithe $198,950 Local Missions $30,000 Missionary Support $35,200 Hands & Feet $59,000 Mission Teams $42,500 Ends of the Earth $32,250 Our strategy to develop our families will be to GATHER to worship Christ, GROW to know Christ, and GO to serve Christ. Gather God made us to worship Him. As we worship Him, He reveals to us His glory and His purpose. At TSC, we worship Him with music, hearing His Word, prayer, giving, baptism, and communion. Grow God expects His followers to grow up into the image of Christ. Our strategy to develop each other includes learning to obey His Word (loving God) and serving each other and our neighbors (loving our neighbors). We will be hearers and doers of His Word, James 1:22. Go God calls us to go into all the world. Our strategy for reaching the nations includes sharing the Good News of Christ with our neighbors in Middle Tennessee, in target cities 17 For greater details visit TSClife.org/vision Questions?
