Queens Messenger Volume 61 Issue 10 October 2017 GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE Brother Knights Well, September is here and the summer went fast. Now it's time to break out the rakes and soon the snow shovels. Council officers Chaplain Associate Chaplains Rev. James Leone I want to thank Bill Morgan for the great job he did with the lobster fest by doing the shopping, cooking, setting up and cleaning up. Also, I want to thank brother knights Bill Hasper, Jim Heptig, Jim O'Connor, Dave Lauglin, Michael Ranelli, Frank Rienzo,, Ed Strack and Doug Boyce. These men worked two eight hour days making this a success. I also want to thank the wives and family members who helped both days. I don't understand why only 9 knights from this council showed up when we have over 200 members. Do you think it's fair? I know a few of you came and told me you were going on vacation or had other plans for that day, but, where were the rest of you? Come back and keep this council strong. Help with the fundraisers, work with us helping the church. We've been working with Father John when he needs us. We also help with the food pantry so they can help people in need. This is what we do. When you joined, you promised that you would be a loyal member of the knights of Columbus. Now come back and work with your council. Let what happened in the past go and come back and be a part of the council again. God Bless, Be safe. G.K. McGivney God, our father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney to be an apostle of Christian family life and lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commitment of charity and building up his body, which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant, prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (now make your request) Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father Hail Mary Glory be to the Father. Queens Messenger 1

Resolution for Deacon Tom Whereas: The Council has suffered a loss of a dedicated member to us for almost 50 years and served us as Associate Chaplin for nearly 30 years. His guidance, advice and commentary will be surly missed. Wheras: A fitting tribute to his memory should be made by our council. Whereas: there is already a Memorial Bench at the entrance to St. Jude s church honoring another Deacon that has passed, I feel it would be more than approite to place a similar bench there, showing Queen of all Hearts appreciation of his spritual guidance over the years. Therefore: be it resolved that Queen of all Hearts Council authorize the exponditure not to exceed $2000.00 for the purchase of a memorial bench. The estimated cost is currently $1000.00 Therefore: it also be resolved that the wording and design be approved by his widow (Kathy), Grand Knight and Trustees, along with the Pastor of St. Jude s. The council officers meeting will be right after at 8pm Autumn has always been one of my favorite times of year, when the land is bursting with color and air is crisp and clean! Baseball season is coming to its peak, when the boys of summer become the heroes of October, Football season is underway and Hockey is around the corner. It s a time for raking leaves and drinking cider. And as a kid it was about Halloween and dressing up, and candy. For the Knights of Columbus, October is Membership Blitz Month. All Councils are encouraged to conduct Membership drives in their Parish or Parishes. Remember that Membership is the Lifeblood of our Order. Grand Knights heard recently in the Installation of Officers that they are charged with doing everything that they can to grow the Order in membership, insurance and fraternal activities. Growing the Order is Paramount to our survival. It is the only way to guarantee the continued success of our Order and the only way that we can keep Fr. McGivney s dream alive. But it is not just the responsibility of the Grand Knight and the Officers. Membership growth is the responsibility of each and every member of the Council. So I ask the members to go to their Grand Knight, find out when the next Admission Degree is, and recruit a new member today! Vivat Jesus- M.
