The donations were carried into the Rectory after each mass. Thank you to all our brother Knights, and your families, for rallying at the request of a parish priest! F I N A N C I A L S E C R E T A R Y S R E P O R T Brother Knights, I want to thank all the members who have submitted their annual dues payments. If you have not received your membership card, please contact me. However, I am disappointed to report that 42 members of our council have not submitted their annual dues. I then have to mail the delinquent members a second Dues Notice and a letter from the Grand Knight resulting in additional postage and mailing expenses. The second Dues Notice contains my phone number and email address. Please contact me before I send a suspension notice to the Supreme Council which may result in termination of your membership. I look forward to hearing from you. The image of the Blessed Mother, adorned with curly black hair and a long white dress, represents traditional Ecuadorian culture. "The Virgin of Cisne traces its origins to 1594 when city representatives commissioned sculptor Don Diego de Robles to build a six-foot statue of the Virgin from a cedar tree so native Ecuadorians could practice their devotion to the Blessed Mother. Later that same year, the province of Loja experienced a drought.... The Virgin then appeared to the village elders telling them not to leave and that if they built a church, she would watch over them. Soon after, the rain ended the drought and starvation period. The people then built the Cathedral of El Cisne along with a shrine that housed the statue, which is still venerated to this day over 400 years later." Loughlin Ledger Page 5 W A P PINGERS ASSEM BLY #0770 N E W S F A I T H F U L NAV I G AT O R S COL U M N By SK M. James Mortillaro, FN Brother Sir Knights and friends, Let us take a moment to mourn the loss of Sir Knight Gino DeGregorio, who passed away on August 27, 2018. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 31 years, and a 4th Degree Sir Knight for 26 years. Our Color Corps posted an honor guard at his wake on Friday, August 31st. This month we recognize the 64th anniversary of Wappingers Assembly #0770. Thus, it is the beginning of our Assembly's 65th year, which will culminate on September 30, 2019. Yes, it has been sixty-four years which may sound like a long time to many of our Sir Knights, but many others were old enough to vote on our first day! Our members are diverse in age and background, yet we all love our country and Church. Thank you for electing me Navigator for a second year; I am doing my best to earn the title Faithful. Summer officially ends this month, and the fraternal year gets back to normal. For starters, our Color Corps will participate in our Deceased Members Mass on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at 9:00am in St. Mary s Church, in Wappingers Falls, New York. As you know, we encourage all council members to show unity by lining up for Holy Communion behind the Color Corps. To the Sir Knights who agreed to serve in our Color Corps, I ask you to make a greater effort to participate at our Masses, wakes, and other call-outs. We have only ten more months to wear our capes and chapeaux, so let s use them up and wear them out! Wappingers Council received an invitation to attend Mount Alvernia s Fiftieth Anniversary Mass, on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00pm. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Mt. Alvernia as soon as possible. We will have our Installation of Assembly Officers on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 starting at 7:30pm. There will be a dinner, and wives and significant others are Trustees Richard Fitzgerald, PFN and Tom Lynch III, PFN being installed at the 2017 Installation of Assembly Officers. (Photo by Debbie Siconolfi.) warmly welcomed. Officers and 4th Degree members are asked to wear tuxedos and social baldrics for this special evening.. Looking ahead, please mark your calendars to join us at the Past Grand Knights & Past Faithful Navigators Recognition Dinner, on November 7, 2018. The honoree will be Past Grand Knight Mike Van Voorhis. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Deputy Grand Knight John Enkler, Jr. The Past Grand Knights Assn. will recognize someone for outstanding service in the past year. Assembly officers and members are asked to wear tuxedo and social baldric. St. Issac Jogues, pray for us. 2018 WAPPINGERS ASSEMBL Y O F F I C E R S & APPOIN T E E S Faithful Friar..........
