REMEMBER ME The Man Christ Jesus By: Phillip Hayes And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [Luke 22:19] Remember me! Has our Lord s request ever puzzled you? How could we not remember the very One in whom we have dedicated our lives to? Our Christian faith is founded upon One individual and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember Him? How could we possibly forget Him? The definition of the word remember is: to recall to the mind; to retain in memory; remain aware of, etc. Why did Jesus request such a thing? Did He think His followers would somehow forget Him and what He did for us? This may not have puzzled you before, but once you think about it, it is puzzling! Today, we hear of politicians, movie stars, and the like having an identity crisis! What does this mean? Simply, that people have forgotten them. They don t know who they are any longer! They may recognize their Trumpet Messenger Page 1

names, but cannot remember just who they are or what they did. I feel that the church as a whole has forgotten who Jesus is! They have forgotten the man that died for them and replaced Him with an imaginary God-person that could not possibly feel pain, much less die! His identity has been lost over the ages, and must be restored! The church no longer knows who He is? Most teach that God came down out of Heaven and clothed Himself with human flesh, just as someone would go into a coat closet and put on a coat. They teach that His flesh was just flesh (an outward covering) and that's all. One thing is certain, God cannot die, He is a Spirit. Did Jesus Christ really die? And, if He really died, did He resurrect? If He did, where is He now? A man died! And that man was Jesus Christ. On the third day the Bible says that He rose from the dead! Do you believe that? Well, if a man died, and a man rose from the dead, where does He fit into our modern concepts of Deity? Don't you understand that if Jesus was not a man, He could not have died, hence He could not have been resurrected, and we would have no promise of a resurrection! This is the resurrected and glorified Christ that I want to re-acquaint you with! My purpose upon this earth is to declare that Jesus Christ is the Lamb, the only Son of the Living God; that He is the one in whom we must believe upon to be saved (St. John 3:16). Trumpet Messenger Page 2

The sole purpose of John the Baptist was to identify Him. And now in the last time, Christ is returning, and that same message must be trumpeted once again throughout the world. Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world (St. John 1:29). Today, men and women are beholding everything but the Christ! They are following man instead of God. Their attentions must be returned to the Lamb! He is the Head of the Church; the Savior of the world! If you will acknowledge the Son of God, you have the Father also! But, who is acknowledging the Son? He is the only begotten of the Father, the Son of the Living God; He lived, and loved, and breathed, and cried, and laughed, and ate, and slept! He grew in stature and favor man and God (Luke 2:52). He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3). He was a man that was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15)! He was a man that was made perfect through the things that He suffered Hebrews 3:9)! Yes, HE SUFFERED! Christ in you the hope of glory. I preach the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and if you don't come through Him; that is to say through His flesh, His humanity, the One sacrificed for the sins of the whole world, you can't be saved! You must believe and accept the fact that JESUS DIED FOR YOU! He shed His life's blood for you! He was tortured for you, beaten for you, sacrificed for you! Trumpet Messenger Page 3

What most folks cannot seem to comprehend is the fact that GOD IS A SPIRIT (St. John 4:24). God is not a man (Numbers 23:19). Since God is not a man, but Spirit, He could not, and cannot die (Titus 1:2). The Bible clearly teaches us that God cannot be tempted and yet we know that Jesus was tempted in all points as we are tempted, yet He was without sin! In the days of our Lord s earthly existence God the Father was in Jesus. There are many scriptures to prove this. Here are only a few: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. (2Colossians 5:19) And again, And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1Timothy 3:16) And again, For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:9) Clearly, the Godhead is in Him! For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1Timothy 2:5) The man Christ Jesus is the mediator (a go between, a reconciler (intercessor) between God and man. He the mediator because He is the One that died and shed His blood thus making reconciliation for the sins of the people. (Hebrews 2:7). God purchased the church with His own blood (Acts 10:28). My kin is my own blood, in Jesus's veins was the Trumpet Messenger Page 4

blood of God because He did not have an earthly father, He had a Heavenly Father. The Bible says He gave Himself a ransom for us all (Matthew 10:28; 1Timothy 2:6). The scripture clearly says God cannot be tempted with evil. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. (James 1:13) But Jesus was tempted! Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [Hebrews 4:14-15] Matthew 26:37 says: And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. The Bible, said in Isaiah that He was a man of sorrow, acquainted with grief. Get a vision of our Lord, the man Jesus, who suffered the agony and shame of the cross. Jesus overcame sin IN THE FLESH by the Holy Spirit that lived within Him. And my friends, you cannot overcome sin or the devil without the Holy Ghost taking His abode within you. His humanity qualified Him to be a merciful High Priest for all of us. Because He was tempted, He knows what we are going through. He knows the temptations that are waiting for you in the days to come, and Trumpet Messenger Page 5

BECAUSE He overcame every temptation, you and I by His grace, shall also overcome all temptations. Amen! But if His flesh would have been Divine (God), He could not have been tempted; it would have been impossible for Him to know what we endure. I want you to know that Jesus was tempted in ALL POINTS as we are. He was tempted with sex, drugs, alcohol, covetousness, and so forth, yet He never sinned. He proved that a man could live without committing sin! He proved that you could live godly in this present world, and because He faced the temptations (in the flesh) and overcame them (in the flesh) you can also overcome temptations! We need to get a revelation of our Savior. I know who died for me. A few months after being saved by God s Grace, I was in a prayer meeting. As I was praying, I saw His hands fall on both sides, and I saw the spikes driven into both hands. In this vision the Lord was revealing to me that He actually suffered; that His flesh wasn't God. He felt every pain, He felt the nails that were driven into the palms of His hands, He felt the cat of nine tails as they whipped and beat Him almost to death, He felt the weight of the cross, He was a man! He is the mediator between God and man! He suffered the shame of the cross for you and I that we might have access to a godly life, that we might have access to this victorious life through the Holy Ghost. Let's read some more about His anguish in the garden that fateful night before He was smitten and bruised for us: Then saith he unto them, My soul is Trumpet Messenger Page 6

exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak. [Matthew 26:38-41] Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen to Him, and He prayed that He would have the courage and the stamina to be able to stand. I want you to know that He suffered GREAT MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL ANGUISH in the Garden of Gethsemane for all of humanity. He endured GREAT PHYSICAL SUFFERING at the hands of evil men, and on the cross. Some People today believe and teach that He did not feel anything, and that is pitiful, for the Bible says, He was made perfect through the things that He SUFFERED. Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. [Hebrews 2:8,9] To accomplish the Will of His Father and taste death for every man; He could not be an angel, or a spirit; He had to be flesh and bone! He had to be human in Trumpet Messenger Page 7

order to suffer death for us, that He might taste death for every man. God did not die for anyone! Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-11) Yes, God the Father has highly exalted Him! He is the Overcoming Resurrected Christ! The Savior of the world! The Door to Heaven! Praise God! This is the gospel that Paul, Peter, James and John preached, that the Messiah, the Christ, the Lamb of God had come, and was sacrificed as an offering for sin, for all mankind! God had surely Prepared Himself a sacrifice. His only Son! Have I said enough for you to Remember Him? Look how the Apostle Paul instructed the body of Christ concerning how we should remember Him. For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had Trumpet Messenger Page 8

given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. (1Corinthians 11:23-26) Please note, the Apostle Paul was not present that fateful night. The Lord Jesus had appeared to him and given him the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Galatians Chapter 1). Obviously, Jesus felt it was extremely important for Paul to have this information concerning the last supper before His crucifixion. I do not believe it was given merely to institute a New Testament ordinance. It was in fact given for all mankind to remember Christ s humanity! Look closely: Paul said, I received this from of the Lord. Jesus took bread, gave thanks, brake it and said, This is my body, which is broken for you: this do IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME. Christ continued, This cup is my blood, this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME. The Bread and wine are symbols of His broken, abused body and shed blood. This was all said that we might never forget the sufferings of the man Christ Jesus, our Lord, Savior and soon coming King. Don t forget Him! Trumpet Messenger Page 9
