Ed Mass at 7:00 PM Editor: Paul Pittari Volume 9, Issue 10 ww.nativitykofc.com October 2017 2017 Grand Knight s Message My I want to take this time to thank Peter Marino for serving as our Chancellor. During his term, he was a great contributor to the Council. Brother Chris Murphy has volunteered to fill that position. I have worked with Chris a number of years, and I know he will also contribute to the success of the Council. Every month seems to be a busy time for Knights of Columbus, and this month is no different. The 16 th,17 th and 18 th of this month will be the Parish Mission. We had reported earlier that there would be pasta dinners served by the Religious Ed group, but that activity was canceled. Please see the Nativity bulletin for further information. In October, we celebrate Christopher Columbus birthday along with Halloween at the end of the month. Our District Deputy, Scott Williams, will have an update on the 2 nd and 3 rd Degrees that we will be hosting. Lastly, please remember our Brother Barry Alessi and his family in your prayers. Vivat Jesus, Ed Visinski, Grand Knight Continued on Page 2

The Mass will be hosted by our Council and will need a number of Brothers in different roles to help with the Mass and refreshments after. Father Ed would like to celebrate the Mass along with the three deacons. I will be bringing sign-up sheets at our Business Meeting to help fulfill all needs. This will be a wonderful tribute not only to Father Ed but the parishioners as well. It s a blessing that our Council can be a part of such a wonderful event. God Bless you all, Bill Tronolone, Past Grand Knight Notice of Resolution Please consider the following resolution: Whereas, a proposal was tendered at the September Business Meeting to donate funds from the Council treasury to the Texas State Council Disaster Relief Fund, and Whereas, such monies will be used for the purchase of critical needs of for the victims of hurricane Harvey in the state of Texas, and Resolved, That the Council donate sum of $1000 to this worthy cause. New Chancellor Election Our Council Brother, Peter Marino, has notified our Grand Knight, Brother Ed Visinski, that he has decided to step down from his position of Chancellor. To fill this vacancy, Grand Knight Ed is nominating Brother Chris Murphy for the office. In keeping with the Charter Constitution Laws of The Knights of Columbus, an open election will be held at our next Business Meeting on Monday, October 2nd. As always is the case, nominations for the office of Chancellor will be accepted from the floor. Please be sure to attend this meeting so that your vote can be heard. September Social Meeting With over 40 Brothers in attendance, our September Social Meeting turned out to be a very enjoyable night. Our chefs, Brothers Joe Tardo, Joe Bruno and Rob Di Bella worked very hard to put together a first class dinner. On the menu was pasta, both penne and rigatoni, with meatballs and sausage, salad and garlic bread. To go with the meal, we had wine, beer, soda and bottled water. Dessert was a beautiful, chocolate cake served with coffee and tea. The evening was filled with lively conversation and laughter, with the guys really having a good time. Special thanks goes out to our cooking, setup and cleanup teams for making the social another successful event. Continued on Page 4 October 2017 Newsletter - Page 3

Prayer to St. Therese Since October 1st, is the feast day of St. Therese, I think the attached prayer is a beautiful one to pray in her honor. She is a powerful saint and she will spend heaven doing good upon the earth. This was her promise to us, so have confidence in her. O glorious Saint Therese, whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. So powerful are you in obtaining every need of body and soul our Holy Mother Church proclaims you a "Prodigy of Miracles the Greatest Saint of Modern Times." Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention specifics here) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good upon the earth...of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Henceforth, dear Little Flower, I will fulfill your plea "to be made known everywhere" and I will never cease to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen.
