P A G E 10 JOY Club P A G E 10 Just Older Youth JOY club met on Thursday, July 5 th, for a "belated 4 th of July picnic". Of course, the theme was patriotic and even the foods had a red, white and blue theme. Regardless of color, all was delicious! Donna Kevech read an article of folks through the ages (how true) and Pam Strothman read a very interesting article about the history of our beloved flag. Linda and Dave Clark had us guess patriotic songs (funny how we remember the tune but not the name) and a quiz about past presidents. Several shared special 4th of July experiences. Levona came "lit up" - with a necklace of flashing red, white and blue bulbs and a lovely hair ribbon with sparkling lights. Very becoming. The August meeting has been CANCELED. September meeting is on the 6 th and will have a football theme - of course, Steelers and black and gold. Food theme will be tailgate goodies. We ended with a prayer circle with all participating with many special requests and many thanks for what this country has given us. Won't you come and join us in September? The Bag Brigade Item of the Month for August Pop Tarts You can drop your items off in the Café in the donation container! Thank You! Thank You for Your Support! The Bag Brigade ministry is still collecting items during these summer months! We are looking forward to whatever God has planned for us! Bee Graphix is reaching out AGAIN for your help to assist The Bag Brigade. They are holding a JAM THE BEE VAN event to collect food donations to continue to help our local school children. It will be held on Saturday, August 25 th at the following location. BeeGraphix: 905 Broad Avenue Belle Vernon, PA 15012 724-929-8800

P A G E 12 John 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. PRAYING FOR THIS MONTH: Our children returning back to school. Pray for the teachers. The children that are being home-schooled & their parents For our AWANA and Youth Groups The New Adult Growth Groups. HELPING YOU TO PRAY: Come to one of our prayer groups. Pray with your children before they leave for school. Learn your children s Sword Master & AWANA Verses. Ask your children to pray and learn from them. Find a prayer partner accountability. Journaling. Scripture from Prayer Cards. Vision for Our Church Just take the time to get quiet before the Lord & talk to Him. He IS waiting! Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference. - Max Lucado

Library/ Outreach P A G E 13 The Library is Available Sundays: Before 1 st service After 3 rd service Office Hours Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Library is NOT available: Sundays at 9:30 a.m. or Wednesday evenings Military Families Ministry Happy Summer! It s hard to believe that we are approaching the Labor Day holiday already; before we know it, school will be back in session and fall weather will be upon us. The Military Ministry is gearing up as well; the summer is often a down time for us, with military families focusing on together time and taking advantage of vacation weather. One of our initiatives, however, hasn t taken time off, and that is our Coups for Troops drive. GAC has been assigned 6 military installations to support with coupons, and this is a HUGE number! Presently we are only able to support 3 addresses monthly, so YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! Our goal is to be able to mail coupons to each installation monthly, so we need more coupons. Ask your friends, family, co-workers, the guy on the bus, anyone you can think of. Coupons can be expired by up to 60 days and need to say Manufacture s Coupon on them. No need to cut them out, we have partnered with the JOY Club as well as in-house volunteers that are happy to clip them for you just bring them into GAC and drop them into the Coups for Troops box behind the Information Desk. Looking forward to serving those that served with you! Chrissie Usher Chrissie.usher@comcast.net 724 322 9723
