Our end of year party will be Friday, June 3 from 4-8pm at the Bowling Alley. We will also do a swim party at the Bay later in the summer! Over one school year, it takes approximately 24 hours to mentor a child, and give them a day that they totally look forward to! Every age can use more friends. Please prayerfully consider giving a little time and attention to a child that really needs it in our program. Thanks to our congregation for always saving Campbell's Soup labels, and box tops for education coupons. Susan Bailey * * dramamama4578@comcast.net Fellowship News Joyful Hearts: Joyful Hearts Women's Breakfast has a very special event planned for the women of the church! A special thank you to Frank and Linda Cervantez for paying for all advertising, 20 signs, and the banner for the sale. Our business has never been so busy, so I know that it results from the new signage from the Cervantez's. We had a waiting line at the cashier many times on Thursday and Friday. Beautiful Savior Lutheran School provided a team to collect all of our items for their sale upcoming this next weekend. So, if you missed our donation time, they would welcome your donations for their sale. Sunday School: Adult Sunday School meets at 9:15am in the Fellowship Hall (upstairs). They will be studying the book of Acts through the end of the school year. Children s classes meet at 10:45am, during the last part of the 10:30am worship service. Sunday School runs through May 22 nd, the last weekend before Memorial Day weekend. Donations Needed: Thank you for continuing to save any hygiene items that you accumulate over the year. We are looking for small soaps, travel shampoos, and personal items of that sort. These will be put in hygiene kits to give to the youth at the Shiloh House Ministry. This home serves these teenagers in everything from housing to emotional support. This will also be the mission outreach project at next year's Association of Presbyterian Church Educators Conference that will be held at the Denver Marriott Tech Center. Donations accepted in the basement - room #4. 4
5 A Letter from Pastor John Every Christian sins. Every child of light stumbles into momentary darkness. And as Christians in this world, we are sinners and saints. We are redeemed, yet we still need to repent. We are forgiven, yet we still need to confess our sin. This reality of our lives is not easy and many Christians struggle with the process. But in the midst of such struggle, it is important to remind ourselves of the truth of who we are in Scripture. Forgiveness is ours. Forgiveness is not a possibility; it is already a reality (1 John 2:12). A clean record is ours. Your debt is gone. The Lord paid the penalty, the record of debt has been cancelled, and the legal demands have been met. (Colossians 2:13-14). Peace is ours. Grant yourself peace; God has. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1) The guilt is not ours to carry, It has been born by another. He said, It is finished, and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit (John 19:30). The Father is ours. God continues to be our Everlasting Father. He continues to direct His love towards us. (Galatians 4:6-7) Freedom is ours. You are not forsaken. This isn t the end. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand (John 10:28). We are not disqualified. God continues to use sinners for great purposes. God is not done working in you and through you. (1 John 2:1). We need the comfort of the gospel and its strong encouragements. We have a great God! Let us never forget that. His grace is sufficient for the past and his strength is never ending for the future! - Pastor John 5
