Spirit of Illinois Programming Your Path to the Stars Building the Domestic Church Church, Community Council, Family Culture of Life Youth Membership

Mission Statement: SPIRIT OF ILLINOIS The "Spirit of Illinois" program is designed as a tool for our councils to "be all that they can be" in the area of programming. Each council is encouraged to use the Surge with Service ideas on the Supreme Website, REQUIREMENTS FROM BUILDING THE DOMESTIC CHURCH and other tools available to have a successful and enjoyable fraternal year. THE SPIRIT PROGRAM IS A GUIDE TO THE COLUMBIAN AWARD (SP-7), which is a requirement for the Star Council award. Purpose: The "Spirit of Illinois" program: Provides an opportunity to all members to practice Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. 2. Provides an opportunity for recruitment at every event. 3. Recognizes councils, with positive membership, for outstanding efforts in programming. 4. Promotes fun in the councils 5. Encourages councils and council leadership to compete for state awards. Process: Councils can use the "Spirit of Illinois" Tally Sheet to plan for events throughout the year and also registered with the District Deputy by September 15, 2017. These are just suggested programs, you can add your own that your council will complete by June 15, 2018. Send a copy of your planned events to your members and encourage them to participate in them with their families. 2. The District Deputy, Grand Knight and council program director will meet quarterly to review the progress of each council towards the completion of the year in programming. The District Deputy will monitor your progress and bring this form with him to the Mid-Winter meeting for review of his district councils' progress. 3. This program planning and tracking guide is a record of your programs and can be used to help your council complete the Supreme SP7, Columbian Application form that is to arrive at Supreme by June 30, 2018. It is also helpful in completing your Program of the month applications. 4. As you complete your programs it will also assist in telling potential new members all the things you do with your members, and for Church and community 5. To qualify for the "Spirit of Illinois" award, the COUNCIL must be positive in membership, send a copy of the Council Columbian Award Application (SP-7) and send a copy of the 2 page Spirit application, signed by the District Deputy, to the State Office in Kankakee no later than June 15, 2018. College councils are encouraged to compete for the "Spirit of Illinois" program award. Send a copy of this form to your DD by September 15 th. 2017. The District Deputy, Grand Knight and council program director should meet quarterly to review and verify the completed programs and add new ones as needed.
