We pray that the Kings and Presidents of this world take strong action to protect our planet. We pray for the representatives of the nations meeting in Paris, and in every government everywhere and all business leaders and consumers that we will see nature as a magnificent book in which God speak to us and grants us a glimpse of his infinite beauty and goodness. St Mary s Parish, Bennekerry Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King Sunday 22 nd November 2015 Memory of My Mother I do not think of you lying in the wet clay Of a Monaghan graveyard; I see You walking down a lane among the poplars On your way to the station, or happily Going to second Mass on a summer Sunday - You meet me and you say: 'Don't forget to see about the cattle - ' Among your earthiest words the angels stray. And I think of you walking along a headland Of green oats in June, So full of repose, so rich with life - And I see us meeting at the end of a town On a fair day by accident, after The bargains are all made and we can walk Together through the shops and stalls and markets Free in the oriental streets of thought. O you are not lying in the wet clay, For it is a harvest evening now and we Are piling up the ricks against the moonlight And you smile up at us - eternally. Patrick Kavanagh

Memory of My Father Every old man I see Reminds me of my father When he had fallen in love with death One time when sheaves were gathered. That man I saw in Gardiner Street Stumble on the kerb was one, He stared at me half-eyed, I might have been his son. And I remember the musician Faltering over his fiddle In Bayswater, London. He too set me the riddle. Every old man I see In October-coloured weather Seems to say to me "I was once your father." Patrick Kavanagh
A Time for Everything For everything there is a season, and A time for every matter under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and A time to gather stones together; A time to embrace, and A time to refrain from embracing; A time to seek, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time for war, and a time for peace. A time to love, and a time to hate; extract from The Book of Ecclesiastes
I Am the Light of the World In this sick world of hatred and violence and sin, Where society renounces morals and rejects discipline, We stumble in darkness groping vainly for light To distinguish the difference between wrong and right... But dawn cannot follow this night of despair Unless faith lights a candle in all hearts everywhere... And, warmed by the glow, our hate melts away And love lights the path to a peaceful new day.
