The Jubilee Year of Mercy Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has declared this past year a Jubilee Year of Mercy. The Jubilee comes to an end on November 20, The Feast of Christ the King. During this past year we were encouraged to practice the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy. The Church teaches us that we serve God and one another by acts of charity and mercy. Whenever we come to church: A can of peas or a box of cereal given to our food box We feed the Hungry A coat, scarf or gloves given to St. Vincent de Paul Society We clothe the Naked Blood donated through the Knights of Columbus Blood Drive We care for the Sick A blanket or donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal We shelter the Homeless Art Auction The October 22 art auction resulted in a profit of $5,340. The entire amount has been donated to St. Robert Bellarmine Church to help pay the ever increasing expenses of our parish. The 110 people who attended had a great time enjoying the food, wine, the auction and the camaraderie of their fellow parishioners. Congratulations to the Knights of Columbus and the parents who volunteered their time and effort to make the event a great success. THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE Again this year we are taking a collection of food to be distributed to the needy in our community and charitable organizations for the poor. You may bring your canned & packaged goods to the Church the weekend of November 19th & 20th. In that way we can prepare and distribute the food BEFORE THANKSGIVING. (No turkeys or perishables.) Do you know someone who will be alone for Thanksgiving this year? Does your family live far and meeting for the holiday is not possible? Please join us for our second Share Our Blessings Thanksgiving Feast on Saturday, November 19th in the School Hall from 2:00-5:00PM. A full Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixins will be served. Come share our blessings. RSVP to strobertsthanksgiving@gmail.com or to Vera @ 718.229.6465. The Diocesan School of Evangelization will sponsor its Annual Diocesan Evangelization Congress on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Saint Francis Preparatory High School in Queens. Workshops will be presented in Spanish, Polish, and English. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop James Massa, Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn. Register online at www.bqonlineformation.org by November 15, 2016. Space is limited, so register early.
