EUCHARISTIC ADORATION & BENEDICTION for Life Wednesday, October 28 th SS. Simon & Jude Merici Chapel ~ 7:00pm On Saturday, October 24, at 10:00am in St John Cathedral, Bishop Lennon ordained Kevin Klonowski, a life-long St Charles parishioner, to the transitional diaconate. Deacon Kevin attended St Charles School, St Ignatius High School, Borromeo Seminary, and John Carroll University. He is currently in his fifth year of theology studies at Cleveland s St Mary Seminary. Deacon Kevin always maintained a high profile at St Charles: serving at Mass, in Youth Group, as an Eagle Scout, for nine years on summer maintenance crew, plus the Summer Carnival Committee, and the list could go on. Deacon Kevin is the son of Scott and Vickie Klonowski, grandson of Sophie Seligman, brother of Andrea Zabor and uncle of Cecelia Zabor all St Charles parishioners! Kevin, and his classmates, anticipates ordination to the priesthood in May of 2016. Deacon Kevin will serve his diaconate at Holy Spirit Parish in Avon Lake (our own Father Terry s home parish.) Congratulations, Deacon Kevin Klonowski! Daylight Savings Time concludes in the wee hours of next Saturday/Sunday. October 31/November 1. So TURN YOUR CLOCKS AND WATCHES BACK ONE HOUR ( spring forward, fall back ) before you go to bed next Saturday. There are always a few dazed looks on the faces of those who show up for Mass and find out that they are an hour early! Ever since I became pastor in 1987, I have invited the trick-or treaters to stop at the Parish Office on Halloween. We ve laid in a big supply of treats and we all enjoy the kids and their costumes. Word has it that Father Terry is working up something memorable for the Big Day. So we ll see you on Halloween from 6pm till 8pm. Our WOMANKIND Baby Bottle Fund Raiser concludes this weekend. Please return your change-filled bottles to the church lobbies or at the Parish Office anytime during the week. Thank you to all who helped! We ll get the total added up and see if we beat our four year old record! This Tuesday, all priests are expected to meet with Bishop Lennon for what the Bishop says will be important serious challenges. Say a prayer for us! Father Ed Janoch will offer a Eucharistic Holy Hour and Benediction this Wednesday, October 28, at 7:00pm in Merici Chapel (Parish Activities Center). For many years, our St Vincent de Paul Society has conducted a November Canned Food Drive. We shall do so again this year, beginning next weekend and continuing through next month. Last year, we collected more than six truckloads of food. We were able to stock our own SVdeP Emergency Food Pantry as well as Our Lady s Kitchen at Our Lady of Peace Parish. We also helped some other local hunger centers. Bring your items to Mass, or at any time during the week, and leave them in the church lobbies. We collect every day. Here are the items we need the most: canned dinners, canned meats, corn, green beans, canned fruits, baked beans, soups, peanut butter/jellies, rice, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni/cheese, gravy, ketchup, sugar, cake mixes, frosting, cereals, pancake mix/syrup, We also need toothpaste, shampoo, bar soaps, Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry detergent. All of the above would also be welcome gifts at our Annual Thanksgiving Day Mass on November 26.
