Fourth Sunday of Easter April 22, 2018 Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton Bishop of Belleville We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God. From Our Pastor... The Easter Season has always been a time to celebrate new life. Everything around us (despite the reluctant weather this year) points to Spring the air, the flowers, the blossoming trees, and the longer days. But even more than that, we celebrate our new life in Christ, risen from the dead. As part of our parish s life for the last several months, we have been promoting FORMED a Catholic Netflix that hosts videos, books, audio CDs and more for streaming or download. This Easter Season, I would like each of us to find a way to use FORMED to grow in our new life as Christians. The Resurrection is the linchpin of our faith. Without it, everything we believe makes no sense. It isn t some story that gives our lives meaning. As Catholic Christians, we believe that the Resurrection really happened. I hope you can use one of the below resources from FORMED to grow in your appreciation of the Resurrection. You can find these under the Community tab when you sign in. Convinced an inspiring documentary on people s stories and reasons for becoming Catholic; Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead? an in-depth look at arguments against the historical resurrection of Jesus Christ and why they fail; Brother Francis: He is Risen! a fun, animated children s video (if your children like it, there are other Brother Francis and children s videos as well). If you have not signed up for FORMED, go to stclarechurch.formed.org, click Register Now, and enter your information (name, zip code, e-mail address, and password for your FORMED account). Your account will automatically be connected to the parish account by signing up through stclarechurch.formed.org. I hope you find FORMED to be a great resource for living your faith. Parking Lot Security Issue Recently, several businesses in the area have had car breakins and last Saturday a couple cars in our own lot were broken into during the 5:00 Mass. We are implementing extra security measures. Please remember to never leave valuable items visible in your car.
