ACTIVITY 1 Silly Sounds Silly Sounds is an activity that reviews this week s Bible lesson while encouraging kids to make and copy sounds the leader makes. What You Need: No supplies needed Before the Activity: Sit together on the floor. During the Activity: Make funny sounds and have the kids copy you. Encourage them to try to make sounds for you to copy. After the Activity: Review the Bible lesson. Before the Activity: Friends, come sit with me on the floor. I have a fun game to play today. During the Activity: To play the game today, you need to copy the sound I make. Ready to give it a try? (Pause.) Super! Here we go! (Make a popping sound with your lips.) Did you hear the pop? (Pause.) Now you try. (Pause.) Good try! Let s try another one. (Snap fingers.) That s a hard one, but you give it a try. (Pause.) All right! (Whistle, even if it s not a true whistle.) Your turn. (Pause.) Super! (Tap your feet on the ground.) Your turn. (Pause.) Fantastic! Now I want you to make a silly sound for me to copy. (Pause.) Those are great! Let me give it a try. (Pause.) That was so much fun! Thank you for playing the Silly Sounds game with me! After the Activity: In our game we listened and tried to copy the silly sounds we heard. In our lesson, there was a little boy who had to listen to someone very special. Do you remember who it was?

ACTIVITY 2 Wake Up! Wake Up! is an activity that teaches listening skills and following directions while introducing the Bible lesson. What You Need: Bell (if a bell is not available, you can simply use your voice to say, Wake up! ) Before the Activity: Have the children sit on the floor and spread out so that they will not touch each other when they lie down. During the Activity: Tell the children to lie down and close their eyes and pretend that they are asleep. Tell them that when they hear the bell they should wake up and sit back up. Ring the bell several times at a slower pace at first. As the children understand the activity more, ring the bell at a faster pace. After the Activity: Repeat several times and go faster each time. Before the Activity: Everyone find a place on the floor that is away from your friends. Make sure that you cannot touch anyone from where you are sitting. Perfect! Now everyone lie down and let s pretend that we are going to sleep. Close your eyes and pretend. When you hear the bell it will be time to wake up and sit back up. Are you ready? (Pause.) During the Activity: Here we go! (Ring bell.) Wake up! Everyone sit up! Good job! Okay, now go back to sleep. (Ring bell.) Time to wake up again! Go back to sleep! (Continue with the activity and ring the bell faster and faster each time.) After the Activity: You did such a great job pretending! In our Bible lesson today there was a little boy who kept waking up too! I wonder what woke him up. Do you remember what woke him up?

ACTIVITY 3 God Has a Plan for Me What You Need: Parachute, and red heart stress balls Before the activity: Put the heart shaped stress balls in the center of the parachute. During the activity: Play with the parachute and talk about the way the hearts bounce up and down. Before the activity: Everyone come sit in a circle with me and grab a corner of the parachute. (Keep the parachute close together to slowly reveal the hearts inside.) Now stand up and slowly take two steps back. (Pause.) Super! Now freeze. During the activity: Okay when I count to three our plan is to, lift the parachute up really slowly and back down again making sure to keep all the hearts on the parachute. One, two, three! (Pause.) Yay! Let s do it again! One, two, three! (Pause.) Now, our plan is to shake off all the hearts! This time let s shake the parachute fast. One, two, three. (Pause.) Whoa! (Repeat as many times as desired.) At the end of the activity: That was so much fun! What did it look like when all the hearts were flying? (Pause.) You guys did a great job following our plans! That reminds me, we heard a lesson today about how God had a plan for a boy named Samuel. The Bible says that God was with Samuel. He loved him and had big plans for him. Samuel was one of God s special messengers and God even used him to pick out kings. Kings are pretty powerful and important guys. God had big plans for Samuel and God has big plans for you too! Yes, He does. God has big plans for you because He loves you so very much. Who loves you? God loves me.

ACTIVITY 4 I Heart the Memory Verse I Heart the Memory Verse is an activity that uses repetition to teach the children the words to the Memory Verse. What You Need: Heart-shaped pillow Before the Activity: Have the children sit in a circle close to one another. Say the verse with the children. During the Activity: Give the heart to a child in the circle. Encourage the children to pass the heart around the circle as they say the verse. After the Activity: Repeat several times. Before the Activity: Let s practice our Memory Verse for this month. Can you please say it with me? (Pause.) I have loved you with a love that lasts forever, Jeremiah 31:3. I have loved you with a love that lasts forever, Jeremiah 31:3 Awesome! Let s try it again! Great job! Now let s all get into a circle. During the Activity: (Give any child the heart pillow.) We are going to say our Memory Verse again and this time we are going to pass the heart around the circle while we are saying it. Are you ready? (Pause.) (Do activity several times). After the Activity: Excellent! Our Memory Verse tells us that God loves us SOOOO much! More than anything! That is why we passed a heart around the circle to remind us of his love. Who loves you? God loves me!

ACTIVITY 5 4 s/5 s Follow The Sign What You Need: The classroom sign used during large group worship. Play a game of follow the leader with the children, giving the sign to the leader. Make sure every child gets a turn being the leader and holding the sign. Before the activity: Today we re going to play a game called Follow the Leader. Have you ever played that game before? (Pause.) It s a fun game! The leader in our game today gets to hold this. (Hold up sign.) This is a sign. I ll be the leader first and then we ll take turns. Here we go! Follow me! (Lead the children through a series of actions. After 30 seconds or so, choose a new leader.) At the end of the activity: You make great leaders! Good job! There was another great leader in our lesson today. His name was Samuel! Yes! Samuel learned to follow God at a very young age. Do you think it was hard for Samuel to listen to God? (Pause.) Sure, it was! But Samuel trusted God s plan for him and did his best for God. God wants us to trust His plan for us, just like Samuel did. Who loves you? God loves me!

CRAFT WK 1 Color Your Own Child of God Crosses Color Your Own Child of God Crosses is an activity that uses fine motor skills to create a craft. This activity represents and reinforces the theme of the month. What You Need: Crosses and Markers and/or Crayons Give each child a cross to color and take home. During the Activity: Our Bible lesson today was about a boy named Samuel. God had a plan for Samuel and God has a plan for us. We re going to make a cross that will help us remember how God has a plan for us. After the Activity: Your crosses look great! Let s review our lesson. Do you remember where Samuel lived? (Pause.) He lived in a church with a teacher named Eli. One night when Samuel was asleep he heard someone call his name. Samuel! Samuel! He went to Eli because he thought Eli was calling him. It wasn t Eli, so Samuel went back to bed. Then it happened again. Samuel! Samuel! He went to Eli because he thought Eli was calling him again. It wasn t Eli, so Samuel went back to bed again. Then it happened a third time! Samuel! Samuel! He went to Eli because he thought Eli was calling him again. It wasn t Eli, but this time Eli knew who it was. It was God! Eli told Samuel to go back to bed and when he heard his name called, he should talk to God. And that s what happened! God said Samuel s name and Samuel talked back and they began talking to each other! Wow! God began telling Samuel about His plan for him and Samuel became a messenger for God. God loved Samuel and God loves you too! Who loves you? (Pause.) God loves me!

CRAFT WK 2 Balloon Fun Balloon Fun is an activity that uses fine motor skills to create a craft. This activity represents and reinforces the theme of the month. What You Need: Balloon from the Activity Pages found on the Website, white cardstock, paint, paintbrushes, cup for water and wet wipes Before the Activity: Copy Balloon onto the card stock. During the Activity: Give each child an Activity Page. Instruct the child to use the paint brush and dip it into the paint. Allow the children to paint with as many colors as they chose (rising paint brush with water before changing colors each time). Continue until the entire balloon is covered in paint. After the Activity: Wipe messy fingers with the wet wipes. Before the Activity: God made us all special and we can all do amazing things! We are going to use these paintbrushes to paint a BEAUTIFUL balloon to remind us that God made me, God loves me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Dip your paintbrush into the paint and use the colors to fill the entire balloon. Great job! After the Activity: Your balloons look amazing! Away we go! God made us all different and special so that we can make things like this and do amazing things because He has a plan for us. Who loves you? God loves me!

SMALL GROUP Small Group Time What you Need: Use the dry erase board in the classroom, and a dry erase marker. SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Today s lesson was about how God has a plan for you. That s right! God has a plan for you and you and you (point to each child and say you ). God has a plan for you because God made you and He loves you. Who made you? CHILDREN and SGL: God made me! SGL: Who loves you? CHILDREN and SGL: God loves me! SGL: Yes! God made you! And because God made you, His love for you is SUPER DUPER BIG! That s right! God loves you and you and you (point to each child and say you ). And because God loves you, He has a plan for you! Our job is to listen and obey, just like Samuel did in our lesson. The new Bible verse we ve been learning is about how much God loves us. It says, (open Bible and lay it in front of you) I have loved you with a love that lasts forever, Jeremiah 31:3. Let s say that together with the motions. CHILDREN and SGL: I have loved you with a love that lasts forever, Jeremiah 31:3. (Repeat the verse a few times together.) SGL: That s a lot of love to last forever! Only God has love THAT big! That gives me an idea for our dry erase board. Last time I wrote, God made at the top of the dry erase board. This time I m going to write, God loves and I want you to write your names under it. I can help you if you need it. Remember to print the words God loves so the children can recognize their names and the letters. This is awesome! Now our dry erase board says God loves (name each child as you point to their names). I m going to use it when we pray. Let s close our eyes and I ll pray for us.
