VOLUNTEER & CHANGE A LIFE AT THE ST. MARY'S COUNTY FAIR SEPTEMBER 20-23 Each year the Catholic parishes of St. Mary s County have a unique opportunity to spread the Good News of Christ and our Catholic Faith at the County Fair. You have been called! Prayerfully consider volunteering for a 2-hour shift at the Catholic Evangelization booth, which will be open all four days of the Fair, whenever the Fair is open. You won t be alone there will be other Catholics on hand to share their faith with visitors! Never baptized? Baptized in another Christian tradition, and interested in becoming Catholic? You don t need to be a television evangelist or a Catholic theologian to inspire others to know Christ. You can make a difference. Feel you need a little help to get you started? Come to our training session at St. Aloysius on Sep 13 at 6:30pm in the school gym. Dinner provided. To sign up or for more info, visit saintaloysiuschurch.org/countyfair/. Baptized Catholic but never received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation? We invite you to join us for RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults an exploration of Catholic teachings, traditions, and practices. It is a process whereby adults become fully participating members of the Catholic Church. Participants attend weekly sessions on Thursdays, 7-8:30pm, starting Sep 13, in the rectory. Is there someone you can invite to explore the Catholic faith? Please contact Fr. Rob at sfxparishmd@gmail.com for more information. It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade. Mark 4: 31-32

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam For the greater glory of God... Dear Parish Family, We are in the midst of a Marian time of the year as we celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 22, one of five Marian days in August and September. Others are the Assumption (August 15), Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8), Most Holy Name of Mary (September 12), and Our Lady of Sorrows (September 15). After Our Lord, Mary is honored more often on the Church calendar than any other individual, with 16 days dedicated to her unique place in Salvation History as the Mother of God, Mother of the Church, and Spiritual Mother to all of us. Our Lady has always had a special place in my heart because I believe that she has nurtured my vocation to the priesthood. Each day I entrust myself and my brother priests to her motherly care. This is something we can all do, no matter what our vocation or state in life. Our Lady loves us and truly wants to help us. Prayer to the Queen of Heaven by St. Alphonsus Ligouri Mother of my God, and my Lady Mary; as a beggar, all wounded and sore, presents himself before a great queen, so do I present myself before you, who are Queen of Heaven and Earth. Disdain not, I implore you, to cast your eyes on me, a poor sinner. God has made you so rich, that you might assist the poor, and has made you Queen of Mercy, in order that you might relieve the miserable. Behold me then, and pity me; behold me and abandon me not, until you see me changed from a sinner into a saint. So I hope. So may it be. Amen. Peace and blessings, Fr.
