Sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name. Proclaim his salvation day by day, tell his glory among the nations. All: Ascribe to the Lord, families of the people, ascribe to the Lord beauty and power, ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. Amen. *Opening Hymn 32 I Sing the Mighty Power of God Call to Confession and Prayer One: Holy One, sometimes we are like Nebuchadnezzar, wanting to be in charge, desperately and destructively trying to control everyone around us. All: God of freedom, forgive and transform us. One: Sometimes we are like the Chaldeans, jealous of those who seem more successful, malicious toward people who do not do things the proper way. All: God of grace, forgive and transform us. We are not sure if we could, if we would, be like Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego; trusting you despite all odds. Devoted to you even in the face of death. God of salvation, transform our fear into faithfulness. Amen. Declaration of Forgiveness One: You servants of the most high God, do not be afraid. For with God is great mercy to forgive and there is great power to transform. So may the peace of Christ dwell within you. Friends, hear now the Good News. 2
All: God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of Christ Jesus, in whom we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins, Amen. The Peace One: May the Peace of Christ be with you all. All: And also with you. Let us pass the Peace to one another. *Congregational Response 2011 We Sing of Your Glory 3
