OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION NOVENA The big Feast Day in August is the Feast of the Assumption celebrated on August 15, 2017. We have stapled on our bulletins a Novena in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. We are asking each family/person in the Parish to pray this NINE DAY (August 7-15) novena in preparation for the Feast of the Assumption. One can always stipulate your own prayer intention to be prayed for during the course of this NINE DAY novena. We would like everyone in the parish to also include the prayer intention that God would bless us as we start Eucharistic Adoration on Sundays here at St. Patrick Parish. The Quarter Barrel is generously offering to donate 15% of the food and drink proceeds to the Catholic Worker House. So come hungry!!! Come join the fun. Your individual contributions are tax deductible!!!!! The August Apparition was to be held on August 13, 1917. This is the same date that Mary asked for all of the apparitions to occur. This did not happen as something evil happened to the children the mayor at Vila Nova de Ourem abducted Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. There had been much publicity about the apparitions. The local civil authorities were becoming very nervous about this. They thought that if they could force the children to deny Mary s appearance and Her secrets, people would stop believing. The children were released on August 19, 1917, refusing to deny Mary s appearances to them and Her secrets. They were visiting family in another place when Mary appeared to them. She heralded as before by a bright light over a holm oak tree slightly larger than the one at Cova da Iria. Lucia asked, What does Your Grace wish of me? Our Lady said: Continue to come to the Cova de Iria on the 13th of each month to see She then looked saddened and said, If they had not taken you to Ourem, the miracle would have been even greater AD ALTARE DEI CATHOLIC SCOUTING RELIGIOUS EMBLEM The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God) program is to help Catholic Youth of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community.
