The Lord s Day August 12, 2018 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35 Prelude Welcome & Visitor Information Opening Music Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) - Molly Koon, Bob Hammond & Trent Thomas *Call to Worship Psalm 96:7-9 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth! *Hymn of Approach No. 2 O Worship the King Prayer of Adoration and Confession Assurance of Pardon Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. *Affirmation of Faith The Apostle s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church*, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *When we say holy catholic church, we aren t referring to the Roman Catholic Church, but instead to the true Christian church that exists all over the world in every tongue, tribe, and nation.
*Hymn of Faith Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched, Weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus, ready, stands to save you, Full of pity, joined with power. He is able, He is able; He is willing; doubt no more. Come ye needy, come, and welcome, God's free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentance, Every grace that brings you nigh. Without money, without money Come to Jesus Christ and buy. Come, ye weary, heavy laden, Bruised and broken by the fall; If you tarry 'til you're better, You will never come at all. Not the righteous, not the righteous; Sinners Jesus came to call. Let not conscience make you linger Nor of fitness fondly dream; All the fitness He requires Is to feel your need of Him. This He gives you, this He gives you, 'Tis the Spirit's rising beam. Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended; Pleads the merit of His blood. Venture on Him; venture wholly, Let no other trust intrude. None but Jesus, none but Jesus Can do helpless sinners good. Come Ye Sinners Poor And Needy (Ushers come forward on last verse) Prayer of Dedication & Presentation of Our Tithes & Offerings *Offertory Let The Nations Be Glad Let the glory of the Lord, forever be our joy. May redemption be the theme of our song. For by grace we have been saved, and by grace we shall proclaim To the corners of the earth that Christ is come. Let the nations be glad, let the people rejoice For salvation belongs to our God. Let the whole earth be filled, with the praises of the Lord For salvation belongs to our God Let the nations be glad. Through the ages gone before, through the trial and the sword, Many saints and martyrs conquered, though they died. Still, we holding out the cross, crossing oceans suffering loss, Shall endure all things to win the crown of life. Let the nations be glad, let the people rejoice For salvation belongs to our God. Let the whole earth be filled, with the praises of the Lord For salvation belongs to our God Let the nations be glad. (Continue on next page)

Why do we worship the way we do at Carolina? That's a great question! Each church is different in it's style, song selection, and order of service. At Carolina Presbyterian Church, our goal is to do everything in worship in a manner that glorifies God and edifies our congregation. Below is our worship philosophy which attempts to capture these key values. As always, please come and talk with any church leader if you have questions about this. We are thrilled to join with you in the worship of our Lord together! Carolina PCA Philosophy of Worship: At Carolina Presbyterian Church, we desire to worship God in a manner that is both glorifying to God and edifying to our congregation. To glorify God, we seek to worship him with excellence, with an attitude of reverence (considering God s holiness) and celebration (considering God s grace), with a Christcentered focus rooted in reformed theology and founded on the word of God. To edify our congregation, we seek to worship God with some stylistic variation that reflects some of the preferences of our multi-generational church and community. We seek to employ these different styles in a way that promotes love and unity within the same worship service. Stay Connected with Carolina!
