Summer Fun By Pastor Alan Eschenbacher It s July and that means summer fun at the Southwest Spokane community center! The center is located in All Saints lower level and there are a total of 60 kids enrolled in the summer program. It will be an exciting time at the center and for these children! There will be activities at the center, in Coeur D Alene Park, at the swimming center and several field trips are planned as well. So if you come by the church during the day you should expect to see lots of activity and lots of kids! In addition to the regular leaders, Mark and Brandon and Pam, there will be more volunteers and a group of 10 kids from the Spokane Tribe of Indians will be coming to help as well! The community center and All Saints will again be hosting a group of college age bicyclists that are riding from the east coast to the west coast for cancer care. This group has stopped and spent a couple nights with us each of the last two years and will be here again the last week of July! We usually put on a big barbecue for their last night with us and have a time for them to interact with community center kids. Its good fun and you can come on down if you want to! Look for more information on this as we get closer to the day! Summer is typically filled with vacation time, leisure moments, lots of sun and fun, and many other activities. This year we will be having our summer picnic at the church centered on a stewardship awareness theme. All Saints is growing and things are changing; along with that change are growing pains and problems as we learn to adjust! There is also the ongoing need for volunteers for various programs like Sunday school for the children, for building maintenance projects, for committees such as stewardship, finance, Christian education, worship and music, and several others. We also need to remain vigilant in our financial giving so that we can remain strong as we live into the future that God is creating! In worship we will continue our journey in the gospels of Mark and John learning together what is revealed about the kingdom! I have made a few changes in the worship service and will likely make a few more before fall so don t be surprised if things are a little different! Laurel and I are taking some vacation days in late June and in July so we can rest and re charge for the remainder of the year! It s hard to believe that the year is half over already and Christmas is less than six months away! So go and enjoy your summer and vacations and all the activities that go along with a safe and rest filled time, and may the power of the Holy Spirit be with you as you go! PRAYER AT ALL SAINTS For the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the future of All Saints For Pastor Alan Eschenbacher as he serves All Saints For Bishop Martin Wells and the Synod Staff For ELCA presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton For divine guidance for our country "People of Christ, living in community, working in partnership, doing the stuff of local ministry" Brian Dickerson, Craig Davenport, Judy Shoaf, Dara Evans, Cindy Shepherd, Beau & Robert Chenault, Solveig Shepherd, Roxie Bryant, Shirley Evers, Mark DeRoth, Mark Lane, Roberta MacKay, Pam Wasmund, Laurel Gittings, Arlene and David O Brien, Stan Schaefer Family, Bob Schlotman For our Members in the Military Paul Billings, Ben Coles, Robert Guyton, Aaron Jelinek Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same spirit, and there are varieties of service, but the same LORD, and there are varieties of workings, but it is the same GOD who inspires them all in every thing. 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-6 Love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind... love your neighbor as yourself. MATTHEW 22:37-40 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. MATTHEW 28:19-20 4

Diane Ogren's daughter-in-law, Lynne Ogren, has accepted her first pastoral call to Zion Lutheran Church in Lewistown, Montana. Lynne graduated from Luther Seminary this spring and will be ordained at Oak Harbor Lutheran, in Oak Harbor, WA on July 12th. She was raised at Peace Lutheran in Grass Valley, California where she and Diane's son, Eric, met, grew up, and were married. Eric & Lynne moved their family to Oak Harbor in 1995 where Lynne took a church staff position at the church. It was there that her call to ordained ministry grew. She was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry in 2005. In 2010, Lynne began her seminary studies through Luther Seminary's Distributed Learning program that allowed her to stay at home to finish raising their children. Diane is excited for this new path for Lynne and Eric, who has also landed a job in Lewistown. They all give glory to God for his provision and call to ministry!
