Sit HYMN OF THE DAY: Crown Him with Many Crowns LSB 525 THE MESSAGE: As Good As Gold CONFESSION OF FAITH (Second Article of the Apostles Creed & Explanation) I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried, He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. What does this mean? 8
I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord. Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. PAX DOMINI AGNUS DEI About Holy Communion The Lord s Supper is celebrated here in the belief and glad confidence that our Lord gives us as He says, not only bread and wine, but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and forgive and love as He forgives and loves us. If this is your belief, we welcome you to join us at the Lord s table. Because we are called to examine ourselves before receiving the Lord s Supper (I Corinthians 11:28-29), we encourage you to consider the questions on p. 329-330 in the front of the hymnal. If you are communing with us for the first time, or if you would like a fuller understanding of what we as Lutherans believe about the Lord s Supper, please pick up a copy of What is the Lord s Supper? at the Information table in the entryway. Please reserve the white grape juice cups in the center of the communion trays for those who for health reasons are unable to drink wine. All sizes of undies and socks (for men, women, and children) are being collected, but children s socks for age 3 to 6 th grade are very much needed, as children in Mexico cannot go to school without socks and shoes. A week or a weekend at Lutheran Island Camp changes lives in positive ways! Our camp provides great programs in a safe and Christ-centered environment. On Sunday April 22, a representative from Lutheran Island Camp and Christ Serve Ranch will be here to answer questions and help our children register for summer camp. Update on the Planning, Mission, and Visioning Sessions that have been taking place, 3.) Participants will learn to assess their risks and ability to respond to medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters and acts of violence. You'll also be introduced to and equipped with a basic and advanced level understanding of safety risks and preparedness. The summit will include an overview of safety risks, preparedness, planning, prevention, response and recovery from experts and practitioners in the first responder fields. There will also be breakout sessions and panels to answer questions. Participants will be given sample Church Safety Plans and resource lists to assist with developing customized safety plans based on risk assessment priorities.
