4 HOLY GOSPEL P The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the twelfth chapter. C Glory to You, O Lord. The Triumphal Entry 12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, 15 Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt! 16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. 17 The crowd that had been with 3

5 him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him. P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ. P Let us go forth in peace, C in the name of the Lord. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination. P Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. 6 P In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for His sake God forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ He gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. C Amen. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. BENEDICTION HYMN: Ride On, Ride On in Majesty LSB 441 READING OF THE PASSION: We read the account of our Lord s passion as we begin Holy Week, and then we leave in silence. The reading of the passion account from Mark at the close of the service signifies the change from the Grand Entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem to die and our entrance into our Lord s journey into this Holy Week. We move from Palm Sunday into the events of the week, reading by groups as Pastor will direct, investing in our Lord s work for our sake, and moving around the room as readers following our Lord s movement from riding a donkey to being lifted on a cross and laid into a tomb. 12 Prince of Peace News: Shine Like Stars! is the theme for the Prince of Peace Lutheran School annual Legacy Dinner and Auction which will be held Sunday, April 22 nd at the school. Mark your calendar now and save the date to come out and provide support for our school. Tickets will again be $14 to cover the cost of the catered noon meal Tickets can be picked up in the POP Office or at one of the Association Churches. Network Spiritual Gift Seminar The 3-week Network Seminar begins Today, March 25th at 9:15am in the Large Classroom. This seminar is part of the new member process, for those in the membership class now and also all new members that are transferring here to Trinity. It is also open for all Trinity 11 members to come and either discover or affirm their Spiritual Gifts. The goal of Network is to help believers to be fruitful and fulfilled in a meaningful place of service. First, you will discover your top 3 spiritual gifts. These gifts tell you what you do in your ministry area. Second, you will find out your personal style which indicates how you serve. Some people like to be behind the scenes and are more task oriented and others like to be up front and around people. Some people are unstructured in how they organize themselves and others are structured. Your personal style needs to be taken into account when considering a place of service. Third, you will find out your passion. Pssion shows you where you serve. It is usually with a particular group of people or with an issue or cause that you are concerned about. I hope you will prayerfully consider this opportunity to discover the place of service that God has in mind for you. -Craig Cooper Orphan Grain Train Collection of New Socks and Undies These items will be taken to Texas border missions and other places where new items are allowed. All sizes of undies and socks (for men, women, and children) are being collected, but children s socks for age 3 to 6 th grade are very much needed, as children in Mexico cannot go

13 to school without socks and shoes. Please send New socks and undies with pastor when he attends the 23 rd Convention of the Minnesota North District- LCMS on april 9 11, 2018 at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Alexandria, MN. Safety Summit Saturday, April 21, a.m. - 4 p.m. St. John Lutheran Church, 9141 County Rd 101 N, Corcoran, MN This summit is for lay people, elders, trustees, ushers, greeters, deacons, church council members, and church workers anyone who is interested in the safety and protection of people attending their church. Participants will learn to assess their risks and ability to respond to medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters and acts of violence. You'll also be introduced to and equipped with a basic and advanced level understanding of safety risks and preparedness. The summit will include an overview of safety risks, preparedness, planning, prevention, response and recovery from experts and 12 practitioners in the first responder fields. There will also be breakout sessions and panels to answer questions. Participants will be given sample Church Safety Plans and resource lists to assist with developing customized safety plans based on risk assessment priorities. Shore Blvd., White Bear Lake, MN In the past, the doors of the church opened inward, but now the people of our communities are no longer coming in through our doors as they once did. Approximately 78 percent of LCMS congregations have reached a plateau or are declining while, at the same time, the number of people claiming little or no connection to God through His Son, Jesus is rapidly growing. God is calling the church to open our doors outward as the people of God seek to establish connections, form relationships, and invite new disciples of Jesus into life focused on His good gifts. You will learn, with other congregations, about some practical steps for beginning, increasing, or continuing activities that convey the spiritual vitality of Word and Sacrament ministry through our congregation for the sake of our

If you leave the service, you can go to the lobby or use the large conference room across from the church office. The conference room has speakers and one-way glass so you can still participate in Worship. During the Sunday school hour, (9:15am 10:15am) and during the 10:30am worship service the nursery is staffed for children 0-3 years old. The nursery is in the preschool on the north end of the building. It is the first classroom on the left as you enter the preschool parent lounge area. There are also speakers in the nursery so you can listen to the service. Activity bags for young children to use are in the plastic tub outside the church office. 13
