November 22, 2015 His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away... This Sunday, The Solemnity Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, we welcome our latest parish RCIA candidates into our parish. In this issue are thoughts from two members of our family who have entered our Church and parish community through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The Conversion of the Baptized The new life received in Christian initiation has not abolished the frailty and weakness of human nature, nor the inclination to sin... which remains in the baptized such that with the help of the grace of Christ they may prove themselves in the struggle of Christian life. This is the struggle of conversion directed toward holiness and eternal life to which the Lord never ceases to call us. (Excerpted from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1427-1439)

To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins... to Him be glory and power forever and ever. I REALIZE NOW THAT MY JOURNEY TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH had been a long time in the making. I feel, especially since I completed the RCIA program, that God has been calling me to the Church, and for me that is the blessed community of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Please keep in mind that I have always believed in a higher power. I truly believe that this world would not be if there weren t a higher power. The first time I ever set foot in the Catholic Church was actually the first time I had ever stepped foot in any church for any type of service. My family is primarily Protestant. I would describe myself before joining the Catholic Church as the occasional Christmas play type. I remember very clearly the first time I walked in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. I probably had the same questions as many RCIA students do. Those questions were answered over time through conversations, Bible studies, and spiritual growth in different programs and discussions with Monsignor King. I did not know what to expect that first Sunday. I was taken back by the reverence and the peacefulness of prayer before Mass. As my curiosity grew, and I came to understand the faith more in depth, I quickly realized that the Eucharist was the reason I was there. I was looking for something. The Eucharist was what I was lacking. I was baptized and brought into the Church on April 23, 2011, by Monsignor King. Anybody who was there could see on my face that it was a long journey, but it is still not over by a long shot. I believe that Jesus was calling me to the door, and when I opened it up the Catholic Church was revealed. Brandon Fisher I GRADUATED FROM THE RCIA PROGRAM TWO YEARS AGO, so officially I have been a StEAS member since 2013. Actually, I started coming to this parish in 1998 when I moved into the area. Before converting I had hesitations. Mostly I was afraid to convert and what that would mean to my family, friends, and myself. I came to the Church with my husband who was born and raised Catholic, though not truly understanding what all of the Church really stood for and where I fit in. Each and every RCIA class I learned more about the Church and the Catholic faith, but more than anything, I learned more about myself. I was nervous I had to always believe certain things in order to really be Catholic, but I realized, it is more about being a good person and trying to be the best possible version of myself. I reflected after every class and realized this was exactly the path I was suppose to take and how much richer it was making my life. I feel connected to our Church and God, more than I could have ever imagined or asked for. It has brought a richer faith into our family that continues to grow. It is hard to express in words what this class meant for me, especially in very personal ways, but I can say, that is was one of the best decisions of my life. Tina Rensel CONVERSION IS ACCOMPLISHED IN DAILY LIFE by gestures of reconciliation, concern for the poor, the exercise and defense of justice and right, by the admission of faults to one s brethren, fraternal correction, revision of life, examination of conscience, spiritual direction, acceptance of suffering, endurance of persecution for the sake of righteousness. Taking up one s cross each day and following Jesus is the surest way of penance... (Excerpted from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1427-1439)
