You are witnesses of these things." -Lk 24:44, M Y D E A R B R O T H E R S A N D S I S T E R S I N C H R I S T, appy 3rd Sunday of Easter! I say these words because it is my hope that you are still savoring like I do the joy that Easter season brings. We have every reason to continue celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus. We belong to the Church of the Resurrection we are Resurrection people not only in name but more importantly in truth. Each passing day from Easter, we hear how the disciples of Jesus were gradually realizing that Jesus truly came back from the dead. Believing did not happen quickly for them. The women who went to the tomb announced to them that an angel said that Jesus has resurrected, but they did not believe right away. Jesus Himself had to convince the apostles that He is truly alive when He showed Himself to them on a few instances. He had to show them His hands and side as proof. They were inally convinced and were illed with joy. After that, they were ready to proclaim the good news to the whole world: Jesus is victorious over death; He is alive! As Jesus opened his disciples minds to the truth of the Resurrection, let us also ask the Lord to help us understand what His Resurrection means to us as present-day Christians. For the Apostles, it meant witnessing to Jesus up to the point of being persecuted and martyred for Him. How about us? What is Jesus expecting of us as modern day disciples? Surely we know that it is not enough that we sing Alleluia as if that is all there is in it. We ought to know that the joy that Easter brings calls on us to something greater than just singing praises. Action is always expected as our response to Jesus call. Easter brings a call to a life of loving and serving. Let us continue responding to this call, especially as we march on towards our 50 th Jubilee in the year 2020. Endless thanks to all of you who helped in making last Sunday s celebration honoring Msgr. Peter Bui a big success. The honoree, Msgr. Bui, was truly delighted and was very happy that a lot of people came out to greet him and shared his gratitude for God s unfailing goodness. Even Bishop Thomas Olmsted was very impressed at how we were able to put things together and kept everything going so smoothly. I just said to him, We have great people here at Resurrection. He smiled in approval. Thank you all! To those of you who responded to my request to support the Philippine- American Lions Club of Phoenix in their food drive, thank you very much. Your help will go a long way to help the abovementioned civic group sustain their project of feeding the poor and the needy. It is that time of the year again when I have to leave for my home country to visit my loved ones. My dad will be celebrating his 86th birthday on April 29 th 2015 so I would like to be with him on that day. I thank you all for your prayers for him. He is hanging in there, although he continues being unable to walk and needs to be wheeled around. Fr. Joseph Krynen, Msgr. Tom Hever, and Fr. Jose Cornelia (who is coming back from vacation in two weeks) will be around to serve you and to celebrate the sacraments. Sr. Anne Marie and our staff will always be on hand for your other needs. GOD LOVES YOU ALL VERY DEARLY. In Christ, FR. ROMY

P... It had been an especially trying day. He had been out of work for over six months, and despite many interviews, he had not been offered any positions. He thought he had quali ications for the positions he had applied, what with a college degree and many years' experience in his ield. Still, he continued to be turned down, often with no explanation whatsoever. Depressed, he turned to a particularly good book and read the words of a reassuring friend: "Peace be with you." That afternoon, he received a call from an employer. Today's Gospel reading is Luke's version of last week's reading from John. Two men have just visited the disciples and told of their encounter with the risen Jesus on their way to Emmaus. Excitedly, they recalled how they did not recognize him, but felt a burning in their hearts as they walked along and listened to him speak. Not until he broke the bread at dinner did they understand in whose presence they were. And as they told their story, Jesus appeared to them all in the room, startling them with his presence so they were unable to recognize him. "Peace be with you," he tells them. At times in our lives, we are hidden behind locked doors, fearful of the world and what it may have to offer us, or even what it may want to take from us. It is at these times that we must look for the resurrected Jesus and listen for his offer of peace. We celebrate the liturgy in expectation of Christ's return; we pray in hope through the Holy Spirit (CCC2657). When we are fearful, remember the prayer of St. Paul: "May the God of hope ill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the holy Spirit" (Rom 15:13). 2009 Liturgical Publications Inc fter some very busy weeks with liturgy, collections, and a new bulletin design, we can inally begin to catch up on some of our inancial news. The igures are current as of this past Sunday but we are still getting envelopes in for the Holy Land collection, for Easter, and Rice Bowls. These are the igures we have to date: Rice Bowls $1299.09 Holy Land $2419.70 Cath. Relief $ 20.00 Easter collection: $22455.50. This is up about $2500 from last year and matches the budgeted amount of $22,000. Easter Flowers: $3550 with expenses to date of $1433.79. As noted, this collection will also help us provide lowers for the upcoming events/feast days: Con irmation/first Eucharist, Corpus Christi, Pentecost, Ascension and others that occur up until Advent. We thank you for your generosity. You may also have noticed some of our recent improvements: the replacement of some of the rotting beams around the walkways, the new kitchen door, the new trash receptacles that line the property, and the replacement of part of our sound system. As bills come in, we will have a more detailed report later. We have used the continuing purple envelope donations to fund these improvements and still have several items on our waiting list. Blessings, Sr. Anne Marie R L S The 2015 step into spring tea Saturday March 21 st, was a sell out and a great success, thanks to the outstanding support from ladies of Resurrection Parish. Thanks to those who made donations of supplies and cash. The money from the tickets sales with the additional cash donations was a total $814. We are suggesting to direct the pro its to make improvements to the parish facilities. A very special thank you to the event coordinators: Dolly Meade, Caroline and Judy Steele. Acosta, Adelina Alvarado, Denice Morales & Monica King, Karen Homa, Doris Macias & Laura McClain, Dolly Meade, Caroline Steele & Judy Steele, Heidi Steele, Pam Waterman, Jane Phoenix, Mirna Linares & Debbie Conley.
