Those who go out weeping will return home with shouts of joy.

*Hymn: #394 There is a Balm in Gilead *Prayer of Adoration *The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Call to Confession Prayer of Confession God who makes all things new, you send us rivers in the desert, and bounty amidst famine. Yet we do not trust you with our whole heart; we do not look to you with a single eye; we do not follow you with all our strength.

In mercy, forgive us for turning away from you. Give us a new heart, that we would rest in your love, and enjoy your goodness, revealed in Jesus Christ, our Savior. Empower us by your Spirit, that in all things we would offer glad witness to the good news of your reign. (silent prayers) Assurance of Pardon *Sung Response: #355 Hear the good news of salvation: Jesus died to show God s love. Such great kindness! Such great mercy! Come to us from heav n above. Jesus Christ, how much I love You! Jesus Christ, You save from sin! How I love You! Look upon me. Love me still and cleanse within.

I Remember When Getting to Know you: Early in 2000, when Herb and I were looking for a church home, we visited New Castle Presbyterian Church. We had visited on some occasions over the years and had always found the meeting house charming and Ralph's sermons wonderful. The Twyfords, Reeds, and Warrens were our neighbors, and I already knew Arline Olds and Pat Taylor. Our children had been in high school with the Johnson's sons. I remember when we visited the church coffee hour for the first time, Bob Swick was the first person who came over and introduced himself to me and started a conversation. I remember how it felt to be a stranger among all of those coffee drinkers and how much it meant to be noticed and welcomed. One Sunday I visited alone and sat by Lynn MacEwen, and I remember how gracious she was. Another Sunday, we chatted with Vic and Elsie Clark and discovered they had been married the same year we had been. Later on, the Clarks invited us to a gathering at their house, and we got to meet some of the other members, including the Von Rheins. Ralph and Anita were there and we discovered what a "professional" photographer Ralph was. After we joined the church in September 2001, we became members of the Bible studies groups on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights and shared a special bonding with regular attendees Cynthia Robbins and Steve Martin, Isabel

Klein, Rolph Scofield, and Bob Swick. Later on, Arline invited me to be a part of the Noon Circle, and I have been privileged to get to know and love those special ladies. I was eager to be involved in the work of our new church, so I asked my neighbor, Janet Warren, what I might do to help with something. She told me that Jean Swanson was chairman of the Congregational Life Committee, and that she felt sure she would be able to use my help. Never having been a Presbyterian before, I was not aware that most of the working committees are appointed to those jobs by Session or Deacons or Trustees. So when I saw an announcement that that committee would be having a meeting, I just showed up. I am sure Jean, Nanette, Dot and other members who might have been present wondered why I was there. But they were very gracious and introduced me to the kitchen for whatever the event was they were planning. And I have been there ever since. - Mary Pratt, March 25, 2007
