2 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD What is Transform Your World all about? It is about Jesus accomplishing His Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) through the followers of Christ at First McKinney. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Some churches are defined by personalities. We will be defined by the supernatural person, Jesus, who will lead us forward. Go therefore and make disciples As we go, we will lead people to follow Jesus who will then in turn help more people follow Jesus. This is how disciples of Christ live their lives. Followers of Christ are those who deny themselves, take up their crosses daily and follow Jesus. Those who follow Jesus lead others to follow Jesus who then lead others to follow Jesus. This multiplication mindset is a result of following Christ and His lifestyle. baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. In order for people to follow Jesus, we will seek to introduce others to Jesus. Our desire is for all people in every nation to have a chance to respond to Jesus. We will aggressively share the Gospel of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus. teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. We will not just pay lip service to Jesus words. We will do what He commands. The Great Commandment to love God and love others will be what we strive to obey personally and as a church. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. In our weakness, He will be strong. As we seek to fulfill Jesus Great Commission, we know with confidence that Jesus will go with us. The Great Commission will be fulfilled! Join us, with Jesus, and Transform Your World. Sam Holm Lead Pastor

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 3 EXPRESS GOD S HEART FOR THE WORLD BY PRAYING, SENDING, WELCOMING AND GOING. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18 20 First McKinney takes an active part in fulfilling Jesus command in McKinney and around the world! Through the Transform Your World Network, people are being mobilized to express God s heart for the world by praying, sending, welcoming and going. Mission partners of First McKinney form Christcentered communities around the world that help lead people to find and follow Christ. We are caring for the disenfranchised among us through Christ-focused care and concern, and God is using the efforts of the body of First McKinney and our partners to make disciples of all nations. Our hope is that, as we celebrate what God is doing, you will deepen your commitment and that you will decide to join First McKinney to help fulfill the words of Jesus. Let s celebrate!

4 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD CELEBRATE PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT What can I do? While everyone has a part in fulfilling God s plan to help all people find and follow Christ, we are not all designed to fill the same role. Discover ways you are uniquely designed to help bring the kingdom of God to those who have not heard of Christ. To get involved or learn more, call 469.452.6926 or email missionallife@firstmckinney.com. PRAYING Nearly 3 billion people throughout the world are without access to the Gospel. Who will tell them about the saving message of Jesus? Pray for laborers to be sent to these people groups and nations so they can hear of Christ s love for them (Matthew 9:37). Take time to learn about these groups by visiting the website of Operation World, operationworld.org. This great resource will guide you daily as you pray for the world. You can also pick up our own Transform Your World Network mission partners prayer cards located in the Connection or online at firstmckinney.com.

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 5 SENDING Senders leverage their resources, skills, and time to support the work of those engaged in helping those who don t know Christ to discover His love. They provide logistical, financial, prayer, communication, and re-entry support for those serving in McKinney and around the world. Approximately $1 out of every $8 that flows through First McKinney is invested in missions. The generosity of the people of First McKinney allows us to have a powerful sending impact. Let s celebrate how God is using the resources of First McKinney to send people to the world (see page 22-23). WELCOMING Welcomers recognize the strategic opportunity they have to make a global impact by reaching out to internationals living here in McKinney. They intentionally position themselves to meet internationals around them, invite them into their lives to build meaningful relationships and introduce them to Christ. First McKinney has the privilege of being positioned in a great area of internationals because of our proximity to Dallas/Ft. Worth where almost 25% of the population is foreign born. 1 Some ministeries that are helping us reach out to our international neighbors are as follows: Bridges International: bridgesinternational.com Brent & Savannah Sorrels-Pan Asian Outreach: panasianoutreach.org Collin Baptist Assoc: collinbaptist.com GOING Goers are committed to take the gospel to those who have no access. They go as church planters, campus missionaries, business entrepreneurs, and more. Some go for a week; others go for years; and some, for a lifetime. First McKinney is involved with several people and church planting organizations through our Transform Your World Network. If you would like to go on a short-term mission trip or are considering a career path in missions, contact missionallife@firstmckinney.com or call 469.452.6926. We would like to journey with you as you help all nations come to the saving knowledge of Christ. MOBILIZATION Mobilizers cast vision of God s global heart for others to experience the love of Christ and are determined to bring as many people into that vision as possible. Mobilizers invite and mentor others into a lifestyle of praying, sending, and welcoming. They connect individuals to strategic opportunities to leverage their time, resources, skills, and lives to focus on those unreached by the Gospel. 1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/demgraphics_of_dallas

6 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 CELEBRATE CHURCH PLANTING Starting and encouraging Christ-centered communities that help others find and follow Christ. For many people, the church is a building. In reality the church is the people who are following Christ together on God s mission in the world. Our desire is to go to those places where some people have not heard or experienced God s grace and to see them trust and grow in Christ in such a way that they, in turn, can help others find and follow Christ. Get to know our partners who help us live out our desire to create communities that help others find and follow Christ.

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 7 STEVE HYDE Blog: asiaforjesus.org/jungle-adventures-blog/ Cambodia From northern Iowa as a young boy, to the Philippines as a missionary kid, to Asia where he has served since 1994 in Cambodia, Steve Hyde s whole life has been about helping people reach their full potential in Christ. In 1997, the Hydes started Words of Life Ministries in order to develop training materials for church leaders in Cambodia. It has become the largest publisher of Christian literature in the country. They also operate a nationwide training program, the Antioch Institute, which currently has hundreds of church leaders being trained each year. In 2003, in an effort to disciple children who have no access to education, they started the Imparting Smiles Association. Their ministry stretches to every province of Cambodia. CAVALIERS East Asia Contact: adam@ciclsu.com Adam and Magan serve in East Asia to bring the Gospel of Jesus to university students, young professionals, and unreached people groups around the country. They also conduct pastor training and leadership training for indigenous pastors. THOMPSONS Vancouver, British Columbia Contact: jefft@mynewhope.ca mynewhope.ca Jeff and Charlene Thompson are planting New Hope Church in Vancouver, British Columbia, in partnership with North American Mission Board (NAMB). Jeff is deeply passionate about helping people encounter Jesus for themselves. He knows that even a brief revelation of the real and living God changes everything. Jeff wants everything they do as a church to be about helping people move closer to Jesus.

8 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 STULLS Phoenix, Arizona Contact: chrisstull7@gmail.com Website: wellspringchurch.com Chris and Brenna planted a church in the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona. Chris served at First McKinney as Executive Pastor before following God s leading to plant a church in one of the top ten unchurched cities in America as part of Send North America with the North American Mission Board. Chris dreams of a church that loves to laugh, where kids have fun, and where all ages enjoy growing in the grace and knowledge of the Savior. MEADORS Karamoja, Uganda Give: advancehim.org/our-missionaries.html Contact: meadorka@gmail.com Andrew and Kerri are the team leaders for Advance Him s work in Karamoja, Uganda. They have been in Karamoja for a total of four years, over half of their married life, and all their Ugandan friends are very excited that the first baby Meador has finally arrived. Their vision is to establish a distinctly Karimojong expression of the body of Christ that is powerfully and effectively impacting its culture and community with the Gospel. The Meadors do this through simple, reproducible discipleship with individuals and small groups. Their goal is that these groups would begin meeting as simple, organic churches among their spheres of influence and multiply themselves across the region. MOLLERS Malawi, Africa Blog: villageschool.wordpress.com Keith and Christeen serve in a Mdala Village in rural Africa. The village is situated high in the mountains east of Lake Malawi about 64km (40 miles) from the nearest tar road. They are building a school in an area where there is no access to education. Living in very rural areas as the people do, they find themselves literally at the proverbial End of the Line.

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 9 SORRELS Plano, Texas Contact: outreach2pa@sbcglobal.net Blog: http://www.outreach2pa.org/about-opa.html Brent & Savannah formerly served with the International Mission Board in Costa Rica. They transitioned to the Transform Your World network while working among the Vietnamese people in Port Arthur, Texas, for nine years. Now they still supervise one of their disciples, Khanh, in SE Texas while they carry out their own ministry among Buddhist people groups in Collin County. They currently teach Bible classes and meet needs in four different locations where Buddhist-background friends are learning what it means to follow Jesus. RAM Central Asia RAM is a missions training and sending place in Central Asia. RAM trains and sends out indigenous young men and women to share the gospel, disciple, and to establish reproducing churches among each and every unreached people group in Central Asia. NAMB (North American Mission Board) namb.net The North American Mission Board exists to work with churches, associations, and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missional force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting. NAMB accomplishes this through Send North America, our national strategy for mobilizing churches to plant other churches and mobilizing church planters and other missionaries to assist with those efforts. IMB (International Mission Board) IMB partners with churches to empower limitless missionary teams who are making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. More than 4,800 people groups close to 1 billion people still live with little or no access to the gospel. IMB is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation s largest evangelical denomination, claiming more than 40,000 churches with nearly 16 million members.

10 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 CELEBRATION SPOTLIGHT...the Jie by John Shapiro SHARING THE DIFFERENCE CHRIST HAS MADE THROUGH BIBLICAL STORIES. In late January, I was privileged to visit with the Jie people of Uganda. The Jie live in a relatively isolated part of northeast Uganda. Their culture focuses around their life as herders of cattle, goats, and donkeys. The Jie have maintained their unchanged simple life for thousands of years because of the region where they live and the attitude of the rest of Uganda towards them. This isolation means that they also have been isolated from an understanding of God s love for them in Christ. Andrew and Kerri Meador have been living with the Jie for over five years learning the Jie language and customs. Through their faithful effort, they have seen God provide relationships and opportunities to become accepted by the Jie and an active part of their community. The relational inroads that the Meadors have cultivated have provided opportunities for them to share about Christ and God s love for the Jie. One of the tools that has

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 11 It was exciting to see Jie believers who have met Christ and are being trained to share the difference Christ has made through these biblical stories. Their faithfulness to God s revelation, coupled with their desire for their friends and family to understand who God is, made a powerful combination. The Meadors are patiently and faithfully seeking to disciple these believers so that God s Word is not only something they hear and share but also something they live out among the Jie. I was aware that I was seeing the start of what God will bring to completion in Revelation where the Jie people will be worshiping with people from every tongue and tribe at the throne of Christ. Please continue to pray for the Meadors and the storytellers they are training as they spread the gospel among the Jie. made this possible is storytelling. The Jie do not have a high value on education and therefore do not read and write. This has made traditional missionary methods challenging with the Jie. Partnering with the International Mission Board in the region, the Meadors have begun training men and women to understand and memorize 30 overarching stories that encompass the Bible and the life of Christ. They focus on teaching the Jie how to tell the story in their language and in a way that connects with the Jie. This emphasis helps those who hear the stories not only to understand them more easily but also to be able to share them with others.

12 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 CELEBRATE CHRIST-CENTERED COMPASSION Demonstrating Christ-focused care and concern for others in distress. As we follow Christ, we are moved with compassion for those around us. The hurts of others become opportunities for us to model the love we have experienced from Christ. We have partners around the world that are not just meeting needs but also helping care for people in a way that leads them to Christ.

Their hope is to reunite children with biological family members, work with the Bolivian government to have the children placed in adoption, or provide long term care when reunion or adoption is not possible. The Mitchells also lead a weekly ministry reaching the homeless children of the city providing them an opportunity to bathe and have clean clothes. Shane s position at Lifesong is the Director of Advocate Ministries. Advocate Ministries comes alongside existing ministries to serve in two distinct ways: First, they offer back-office support, accounting, marketing, and communications support at no cost. Secondly, they utilize Lifesong s 10+ years of international experience by taking best practices and applying those principles and techniques to increase the level of care and discipleship. Shane will be joining the team in helping care for the growing number of missionaries serving at Lifesong. THE H S Central Asia The H s serve in Central Asia ministering to Syrian refugees. Additional Information regarding the H s and their ministry work cannot be shared for safety reasons. Please pray for God s protection over the H family as they show the love of Christ in practical ways to provide tangible hope in what may appear to many to be a hopeless situation. THE 25PROJECT 25project.org Hope and healing to the least of these. Children belong in families, not on the streets and not in institutions. God s perfect design for them is to be raised in a home by a loving family who will nurture, instruct, and disciple them to live for Him and share Him with a lost world. However, living in a home with a loving family for many children is seemingly only a dream. The 25Project works to see that the dream of a home and a family becomes a reality while continually pointing each child to a transforming relationship with Jesus.

TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 15 LIFESONG FOR ORPHANS lifesongfororphans.org Lifesong for Orphans seeks to mobilize the church, His body, where each member can provide a unique and special service: some to adopt, some to care, some to give. Children involved with Lifesong for Orphans will have no want for food, clothing, medical care, or shelter and will be provided the opportunity for a quality education to build a foundation for the future. They will receive continued love and support as they transition into adult living. MISSION REGAN missionregan.org Give: missionregan.org/partners.html Mission Regan exists to bridge the chasm between people who have much and people who struggle to survive. They collect supplies, medicines, and equipment to send to those who are in desperate need locally and globally. Mission Regan focuses on what they can learn from the people to whom they are giving and aim to sustain relationships with the people who have been helped. They believe we can all help each other, regardless of our status. Simply stated, Mission Regan connects people who want to help others with people who need help.

16 TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 CELEBRATE MOBILIZATION Helping people find their place in expressing God s heart for the world. Every person is uniquely crafted by God and has a unique story. This is not happenstance but by design. God wants to use that uniqueness, once we experience God s grace through Christ, to help accomplish His purpose in the world. The following are some of the partners who help people find their role in helping others find and follow Christ.

MaryBeth works with the Marketing and Communication team of GAiN as an editor and writer. Charlie is part of the Ministry Partner Development Executive Team. The main purpose of the team is to train new missionaries who join Cru so they will have needed funds to carry on ministry around the world. Every year, he helps to train approximately 400 new missionaries for the field. TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD 2017 21 CELEBRATE GENEROSITY F irst McKinney can actively participate in obeying Jesus words in Matthew 28:18 20 because of the generous nature of our church family. Missions is not just a department at First McKinney, it is part of the very fabric of the church. All our ministries: Children, Youth, Adult, Worship and Arts, and Sports actively engage in missions locally and globally. The investment First McKinney makes directly to missions giving is only a part of the overall investment. With the investments of other ministries so deeply involved in missions, we certainly can celebrate God s faithfulness in providing and meeting the needs of people around the world as we share the love of Jesus. Missions financial investment happens in two major ways: the budget and a special yearly offering called the Transform Your World Target Offering. On the following pages is a breakdown of how First McKinney s generosity is invested to help people find and follow Christ locally and globally.
