The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another. you shall love your neighbor as yourself, Saturday, May 26 th 2:00pm Baccalaureate at Polo High School Sunday, May 27 th 2:00pm Polo High School Graduation June 3 rd 9:00am Early Worship begins Are you celebrating an Anniversary or milestone Birthday?? Let us know! The card ministry at St. Mark s loves to send cards to help celebrate your special events. Please drop a note in Amanda Long s church mailbox or email her at amanda07216@gmail.com if you know of members celebrating an anniversary of 20 years or more or a milestone birthday.

Sunday, May 20 th All eight Team members attended our April meeting. What a joy it is to see everyone so fired up to do God s work and share his love! Quilting St. Mark s Quilters continue their faithful work every third Tuesday of the month. They are in need of large pieces of fabric, especially for middles. If you have any old bedsheets or tablecloths, please consider donating them. Stubbs Family Carol has completed 17 days of radiation therapy. The doctor is optimistic that the rays have done their job. She asked that we continue to keep her in our prayers. Another Child Foundation On Friday, April 13, Charlie and Linda drove to Princeton to deliver some of the shoes and socks that have been collected. They took with them 60 pairs of shoes and 101 pairs of socks! What a wonderful outpouring of love! Thank you to everyone who donated. Donations will be accepted until May 1. Tim Oloffson, Director of Another Child Foundation, will speak at St. Mark s on Sunday, May 20 th ; and Linda will show photos from the October Mission Trip. Brad, Linda, and three others are going to Romania on June 7 to work in small groups with the children. Brad hopes to help the older boys in the woodworking class build Corn in the Hole games for the children to play. St. Mark s quilters are furnishing fabric and a pattern for the students in the sewing class to make the bean bags. Linda will be involved with setting up a summer reading program to help the children keep up their reading skills. This is especially important since most of their parents do not know how to read. Please keep the Team in your prayers. Honduras Project Tracey and Linda attended a presentation at the Brethren Church given by Kelsey Horton about her January mission trip to build houses in Honduras. It was wonderful to see this young lady s pictures and hear her share her experience. She did an excellent job and she hopes to go back someday. The next Honduras Mission Trip will probably be in June to deliver food. Tanzania Nursing Project Three hundred students are enrolled in the program. As of April 12, the Nursing Project was $12,000 short of its goal. The Team voted to send a $200 donation via the ELCA. Northern Illinois Synod of the ELCA s Retreat HERstory A String of Pearls is Saturday, April 28, from 8:15 AM 3:00 PM at Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Oregon. Several ladies from St. Mark s are registered to attend. World Hunger Bike Ride The morning of Wednesday, June 13, approximately 15 25 people from the Rockford area will be at St. Mark s. They will be enroute to the Synod Conference at Augustana College via bicycle in an effort to raise awareness of World Hunger. The Global Missions Team will provide them with refreshments. We would ask that you please watch for the bicyclists on the roads and pray for their safety and mission. LOMC Clean up will be September 3. Please mark it on your calendar and give them a hand, if you can. St. Mark s Ministry Fair Sunday, September 17 th tables will be set up in the coffee area for St. Mark s organizations to share with the congregation information about their ministry. We hope that several of our committees will take the opportunity to invite others to do God s work with them. Watch for more information. Bishop Jeff Clements Bishop Clements recently led a Missions Team to India. In February 2019 he will lead a team to Arusha, Tanzania. If you are interested in going, please see Pastor Terrie. May 3, 2020 St. Marks will celebrate its 150 th Anniversary. Bishop Clements will be in attendance. Next Meeting The Global Missions Team will meet on Thursday, May 9, at 9:00 a.m. Come join us!

In-Kind Offering Basic Needs Bags for the Homeless On a single night in January 2016, state and local planning agencies in Illinois reported 11,590 people experienced homelessness. Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. ~Matthew 25:40b Collect the items listed below and place into a gallon size baggie. Bring to synod assembly. We will pray over them and for those that are homeless. Take completed baggies home to your community. Keep them in your car or office and share with the homeless.
