Jun. / Jul. 2017 President s Message Hello New York I must say that my last letter must have hit a nerve. I told you the truth about membership and guess what, the state did something it never did before. It got together, teamed up, and went out and got members. At Binghamton, we were appox. 875 members down. I asked you if there was anything you could do, to please do it. Well in 1 week the NYS Moose Association (that would be you) went out and signed 525ish members. We missed the mark by 347. I am taking this as an accomplishment. We're starting to show signs of growth again, but we can't let up. Right now the State is 75 members above where we took over in September. We must keep working together to remain a plus for the year. I can't thank you enough for all your hard work. How did you like the Conference in Binghamton. We're trying new things, new agenda, whatever works. We want people to come back to Conventions, not only to learn but to enjoy the fellowship of one another. It's good to know we're not alone in our quest. As far as Alex Bay, don't book to early. You must use the form on the web site to reserve a room to get the Moose rate. The information should be up by early June. It will also be my last one, so please be a part of it. Until than... Page 3 THE BULLETIN Jun. / Jul. 2017 Message from the Deputy Grand Regent Hello Co-workers, As we get under way in a new chapter year with a new board of officers and chapter chairman I hope that this finds each of you with renewed enthusiasm. Many of our chapters have struggled in the past to fill positions and maintain membership however we need to put all of that behind us and move forward in a positive manner and strive to put our best foot forward as we put plans in motion to do the best that we can on behalf of our chapters. We need to communicate with one another and keep all of our members informed as to what is going on in our chapters and lodges as there is sure to be something that would interest everyone. Remind your members when you meet and encourage your seasoned co-workers to buddy up with your new ones and invite them to attend meetings and functions. Be open to new ideas and make all feel welcomed to join in and participate in chapter and community activities. This is what will help to keep your co-workers wanting to keep their membership dues current, not the bickering and biased opinions during a chapter meeting. We need to make our meetings both fun and informative, always start meetings on time and always remember to treat one another with kindness and respect, a smile and the words I understand goes a long way. Congratulations to all of the co-workers who will be going to Tampa to receive your College of Regents and Star Recorder Degrees, what an exciting time for each of you as you make plans for the upcoming conference. I am also excited for each of you and look forward to greeting you in Tampa as we celebrate these honors together. Co-workers, enjoy the warmth of summer and the joys of love and laughter within your hearts as you go through the storms of life remembering always that FRIENDS are angels that lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly. In Friendship & Fraternalism, Christine Christine Brooks, Deputy Grand Regent

Page 5 THE BULLETIN Jun. / Jul. 2017 Hello Co-workers, Well here we go again a new and exciting chapter year has begun and new membership quotas are in place. First off I d like to congratulate all of the chapters who worked so hard to maintain and increase their chapter membership s and are hoping to hear that your dedication and hard work has paid off and that your chapter will be receiving word that you have earned the Award of Achievement. Co-workers remember to utilize the Membership Retention tools available to you from Moose International and to stay abreast with the current Membership Campaign s in progress which is Moose Honoring Community Heroes and the invitation of free first years dues to First Responders now also including National Guard Members and Border Patrol until December 31, 2017. I d like to Thank all of the chapters and co-workers who participated in the Mid-Year Membership Raffle which was held in Binghamton this past spring. Your dedicated support was much appreciated and soon we will be getting underway for our next raffle in September in Alexandria Bay. Co-workers never speak from a place of hate, jealousy, anger, and insecurity. Evaluate your words before you let them leave your lips. Sometimes it s best to be quiet. And remember it s not what we have in life. But who we have in our life that matters. New York State Women of the Moose Membership Christine and Committee

Page 10 THE BULLETIN Jun. / Jul. MOOSE CHARITIES UPDATE As we start the new Lodge and Chapter year, we would like to remind you that it is your responsibility to send Endowment to Moose Charities on a monthly basis regardless of the amount. If your Lodge and/or Chapter are holding meetings, you should be collecting Endowment. Or, if you have special events, Endowment should be collected during the Nine O Clock Ceremony. Sadly, there are a few Lodges and Chapters that did not send any Endowment during the 2016-2017 year or only sent 2 or 3 checks. Let s get New York State to 100% this year!!! Members are also encouraged to make personal donations to Moose Charities. All personal donations are 100% tax deductible. Individuals can mail a donation to Moose Charities at 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, Illinois 60539. You can decide where your donation is applied by earmarking your check - - some options are Endowment, Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Donors Circle, Mooseheart Boosters, Moosehaven Centennial Project, New York State Home at Mooseheart. Every little bit helps but please take your obligation of membership seriously and send a donation. The kids at Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven depend on all of us!!!
