The Ascension of Our Lord Saturday and Sunday May 12-13, 2018 www.stjudecatholic.org May 13, 2018 Dear Friends: Two Sundays ago we celebrated First Eucharist with our second graders. Congratulations to all of them, and thank you to their teachers, catechists, and parents for your assistance with preparation throughout the year. Thank you to our Catholic Daughters for the reception after the Mass and, as always, to our most amazing Saint Jude Parish Music Ministry for another awesome celebration! Several people commented to me on how prepared our children were. Mrs. Erin Simonson, our Director of Christian Formation, did an excellent job with her first first Eucharist. Thank you, Erin, and all who helped to make the day so special! Last Sunday we offered our thanks to Deacon Frank Bains and his wife, Mary Margaret, as he retires from ministry as Deacon. Deacon Frank, as you all know, has been an amazing example to all of us throughout these years and has offered his ministry as Deacon with preaching, assisting at Mass, leading baptism seminars, and in other ways as well. Frank and Mary Margaret, on behalf of all of us, and on behalf of Father David Allen, our former pastor, thank you! I am also especially grateful to you for the care and assistance that you, Deacon Curt, and Deacon James gave to Father Mike while he was with us, and the support that you have shown me throughout these years. You will remain in our prayers! Sincerely, Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor On Monday May 14 Fr. Trey Celebrates His 30th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination! Father Trey has asked to celebrate this with the parish community after the summer when Father Ryan Halford is with us. More details to come!

Culture of Life Reflections It is painful to see how many fundamental rights con nue to be violated today. First among all of these is the right of every human person to life, liberty and personal security I think of the elderly, who are o en cast aside, especially when infirm and viewed as a burden. --Pope Francis, January 2018 State of the World Speech
