Australian International Islamic College June Newsletter 2015 Principal s Message This semester has been both very challenging and rewarding. MashaAllah I am very proud of our student s progress from all campuses. Thank you to our parents and teachers for their contributions in making this a success. It is evident that our students performance has been great and that we have achieved so much together, Alhamdulillah. I would be very pleased to see parents join us during the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday at the Gold Coast Campus and Thursday at the Durack campus. There is sufficient evidence to show that when parents are involved positively in their child s school and education, the outcome is higher grades, better behavior both at home and school and the social interactions of students improves Parents can also become more involved with the activities of the school and communicate with the staff and school on a regular basis. Please take advantage of Parent/Teacher Interviews next term in week 2. Letters will be sent home at the start of the term to make appointments to discuss the report cards and progress of your child. I would also like to request parents to kindly settle term 1 and 2 fees and also take this opportunity to thank all those parents for the payments made over the last semester. The month of Ramadan is upon us. As you fast and offer prayers to Allah, May you find your peace and happiness. InshaAllah I wish you all Ramadan Kareem and a happy, safe and restful break. Page 2 Message from Prep Class Asalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barkatahu. We are fast approaching the end of Term Two. The children have been busy learning about the Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. It was good to see the children design and construct a bridge for the three Billy goats gruff story. They made gingerbread cookies themselves for the science experiment. Making jelly was fun when they learnt about letter J. Cooperation and working together and helping each other to make a simple machine and pulley for the story Jack and Jill was fun to watch. Last week the students went to the Nerang library. The students thoroughly enjoyed looking the different parts of the library. Great experience for the students. Apart from all the fun hands on activities children are also learning to read and write. A greater emphasis is made on your child s understanding of the information and events when reading different types of texts through comprehension activities. Children are encouraged to have a go at using reading strategies such as, picture clues, initial letter sounds, sight words, sounding out words, read on-re-read and check to see if the sentence makes sense. Please encourage these strategies when your child is reading at home. At Prep we encourage the children to be independent. Please ensure your child s lunch box, drink bottle, hijab, uniform and bag is clearly named. Now that the weather is getting cooler your child will need warmer jumpers; please remember to name these clearly to ensure no lost property. That way each child can easily identify their belongings and be responsible for their things. We are looking forward to an enjoyable term break. I would like to thank all the parents and caregivers for your continuous support throughout Semester One. May Allah bless you with happiness, and grace your home with warmth and peace.
