CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH LOST. FOUND. FORMED. FOR SERVICE. 1 EIGHTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST July 15, 2018 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! -Psalm 98:1a AS WE GATHER (prepared by Jim Gann) We live in a busy, noisy world. All around us, we hear TV, radio, traffic, bells, beeps, whistles, children at play, and people talking. The list could go on and on, right? When Jesus moved among people, no doubt He heard the busy hum of human life around Him too. When He spoke, He wanted people to stop their busy lives and stop talking for a little while. That way, they could focus on His words and understand what He was saying. He wanted them to listen, just like He wants us to stop and listen. That way we can focus on the Word and understand the law and our need for salvation. We will understand the Gospel, God s salvation plan. Then, we can come to the Father in prayer and become children of God as the Spirit leads us. CALL TO WORSHIP and PASSING OF THE PEACE (Please stand) RINGING OF THE BELLS OPENING HYMN #790 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

+ DIVINE SERVICE SETTING FOUR + 2 INVOCATION, CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION Pastor: In the name of the Father and the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen. Pastor: Our help is in the name of the Lord. People: who made heaven and earth. Pastor: If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? People: But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. Pastor: Since we are gathered to hear God s Word, call upon Him in prayer and praise, and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner. People: Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Amen. Pastor: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen. (Please remain standing)

The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right

hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. 6 I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life + everlasting. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.
