They are a joy to attend and conduct. The February meeting, featuring The International Trends and Services Facet, was most informative and stimulating. Kudos to Link Gladys for organizing an exciting and enlightening presentation that focused on our global community. Hats off to Link Joyce for the key role she plays in the planning and execution of the Program Breakfast Community Forum. We look forward to the Services to Youth Forum in April. The Membership Committee deserves lavish praises for its display of Member Care beautiful table arrangements and the special gift of a rose for each member. It was an endearing and tangible expression of love and friendship. We applaud your good work, Membership Committee. We received correspondence from our Southern Area Director requesting a two paragraph summary of the Chapter s accomplishments, 2003-2007. Link Joyce put pen to paper and wrote a most impressive report citing our major accomplishments. The report showed very decisively that our Chapter has made tremendous contributions to those who need our aid. After final editing, Link Glenda typed and e-mailed the report to our Southern Area Director who asked us to include our Chapter s roster and President s picture. Thanks to Link Glenda for her faithfulness and versatility. After conferring with Link Angela regarding the Southern Area souvenir program, our one-page ad has been professionally typed by Link Glenda in consultation with Link Phyllis and submitted by e-mail. It was a most challenging task. Mega thanks to Links Glenda and Phyllis. This month has been information overload in an attempt to keep you abreast of all relevant and pertinent information from National, Southern Area, Community, and the Chapter. Happy Reading, Link Ruth K.
P A G E 2 Newsletter Articles Due June 1 2007 Editor s Note It is a pleasure to issue for your reading this second issue of our quarterly newsletter. Our chapter has generated venues that have included most all of our chapter members. It was challenging to give the submitted entries the format, space and highlight that each article or picture so highly deserved. Please read and enjoy with the knowledge that other issues are forthcoming. Link Lucy C. Linkspiration P A G E 3 My Dear Link Sisters: Often times, we go through each day scurrying about with our daily work as we deal with people and challenges. The things we must do seem to be never ending, which creates pressures and tensions within our lives. When this happens and the joys of the day seem fleeting, just bear in mind that happiness is promised to you: "Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised! Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires: God will satisfy them fully! Happy are those who are merciful to other; God will be merciful to them!... Happy are those who work for peace: God will call them his children (Matthew 5:5-7, 9). And so my sisters, it is important to remember, happiness in our daily dealings comes from treating others with respect and mercy. Sisterly yours, Link Caroline Lattimore "How to be Happy" (taken from: 365 Bible Promises for Busy People) Carey s Story Carey Hughley III was a 21-year-old college student when he was shot and killed by a mentally ill student. Carey s sister knew that he had said yes" to organ donation on his driver s license. Meanwhile two women from the family s churches were awaiting kidney transplants. Miraculously Carey s kidneys were a match and his parents requested that the organs be directed to the women in need. His liver and lungs were also donated. Carey s mother says, It is rewarding to know that you have done something to save the lives of others. The Gift of Life is a precious gift.
