September 6, 2015 Service of Worship 10:30 A.M. Welcome to worship on this Labor Day weekend. We re pleased that you have joined us as fellow workers in God s kingdom. PRELUDE STRIKING THE HOUR GREETING CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION Announcements Prayer Concerns OPENING MUSIC This is the Day Chancel Choir CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 28 L: Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the sound of my pleadings. P: The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; L: So I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. P: The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. L: Let us worship God! *HYMN Come, Thou Almighty King CH 8 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of strength and might, we confess our neglect of salvation s armor. We have not girded our loins with truth. The breastplate of righteousness is tarnished by our lax behavior. Our feet are caked with mud from battles fought unshod by the gospel of peace. We have laid aside the shield of faith, and weakened our defense in a hostile world. Help us once again to don the helmet of salvation and to raise the sword of the word against the powers that oppose you, so that in all our struggles we may rely solely on your strength. Amen. *SILENT PRAYERS OF CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Jesus gave the most extravagant gift of all the offering of himself for us. Through this selfless gift, we are set free, and our sins are forgiven P: Thanks be to God! *Congregation please stand, if able

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Seek Ye First Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, And all these things shall be added unto you Allelu, Alleluia! *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. ANTHEM Standing on the Promises Chancel Choir NT LESSON: Ephesians 6:10-17 Pew Bible p. 1020 SERMON Battle Ready Rev.
