Prayer for a Blessing on the New Year O sacred and adorable Trinity, hear our prayers on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy, and for all that are in authority over us. Bless, we beseech Thee, during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church; convert heretics and unbelievers; soften the hearts of sinners so that they may return to Thy friendship; give prosperity to our country and peace among the nations of the world; pour down Thy blessings upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances, and upon our enemies, if we have any; assist the poor and the sick; have pity on the souls of those whom this year has taken from us; and do Thou be merciful to those who during the coming year will be summoned before Thy judgment seat. May all our actions be preceded by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance, so that all ourprayers and works, having been begun in Thee, may likewise be ended through Thee. Amen. Parents, you must accompany your child/children to the restrooms at all times on the church property. Your child/children will be asked to return to their seats by the ushers or staff if they are walking on the property unattended. Thank you. Journey to Bethlehem Please join us for our Journey/Tour of Bethlehem sponsored by Our Lady's Sodality. If you would like to participate, please bring your Nativity Sets to the social hall after 3pm on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Viewing will begin after the 4pm mass on Saturday and until noon on Sunday, January 10, 2016. You may pick up your Nativity Sets by noon on Sunday, January 10th. Nativity sets are an Advent tradition, hundreds of years old, used by churches and families to better imagine, understand, and relate to the story of Jesus' birth. St. Francis of Assisi created the Nativity scene, also known as the Creche, in 1223. Francis was a monk who lived in the town of Assisi in Italy. Francis was known for living his life differently from most other people. During the time of Advent in 1223, Francis set out to find a way to bring the Christmas story to life for the people of Assisi. He felt that people weren't really paying attention to Christmas and that many people had a hard time understanding the Bible story. He decided to create a Nativity set to show people what the Christmas story might have looked like. St. Francis used live people and animals and some churches today still create live Nativity scenes. People all around the world use Nativity scenes to remind them of the story of Jesus. Endow Endow is a Catholic educational program that brings women together to discover their God-given dignity and to understand their role in humanizing and transforming society. Endow helps women from all walks of life discover their God-given dignity and femininity through the richness and authenticity of Catholic teaching. When we as women grow in understanding the teachings of the Church and in the truth of Jesus Christ, our faith becomes more fully defined, and so does our transforming influence in the family, the community, and society as a whole. Endow utilizes small study groups to cultivate faith, fellowship, and formation. If you re looking to enrich your life, or just want to join a quality women s book club that provides content-rich material, Endow is for you! Endow study groups will meet on Saturday mornings, after the 8am Mass, over an eight-to-ten week period. We will not meet on the same Saturdays as Women s Sodality, so that women can attend both groups. No homework is required.
