Thought for the month.faith in Action When out for a curry night, fuelled by beer, a group of men agreed to do the Saffrey Champness walk, 40 miles around the coast of Guernsey. The months passed by, the walk came and went. And apparently we had all wimped out. In conversation later, I discovered one man had got on and done it, on his own. The rest of us had talked the talk, but most definitely not walked the walk. In James letter he says; What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill, and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. (James 2 vs 14-17 NRSV) And so the challenge that is there for us all to consider is are we people who both walk the walk and talk the talk in our Christian faith. Does our faith show in our actions? On a Monday morning? On a Wednesday afternoon or a Friday evening.?

STEWARDSHIP APPEAL There will be letters at the back of church from November 27th concerning this year s Stewardship Appeal. If not picked up after a couple of weeks it will be emailed or posted out. After you have read and considered it please can you return the Pledge Form to Mark, preferably before Christmas. This can be either by putting it through his letterbox or emailing him at charmley@cwgsy.net with the amount you wish to give. The giving from the congregation is essential for the running of the church. This helps fund the heat and light in the church, finances the Sunday Club, Holiday club...everything that makes our life at St Saviour s church what it is! We need to know how much we are receiving through stewardship ASAP so that we can budget for next year. Make your New Year s Resolution in 2017 to offer some help in church!! We need to enlarge our Sunday Club Team...can you help with either the little ones or perhaps the older group? Instruction given! Or would you like to read a lesson, do the intercessions, help with coffee, do the brass cleaning or the help with the flowers? You only need to help just a few times a year- not every week! Could you be a Welcomer or a Sidesman? So, please, come on and volunteer some much needed assistance. So much easier than going on a diet or giving up chocolate...leave that to Lent!! Speak to Diana or Mark if you would like to know more!!
