MISSION STATEMENT Saint Patrick Parish is a Christian community of disciples in the Roman Catholic tradition, called by Jesus, united in Eucharistic worship and growing in faith, hope and love. Nourished through the sacraments and strengthened by God s transforming love, we are empowered to know the gospel message and to bear witness to others. As Christian stewards, we are thankful for God s many gifts and we commit ourselves to share our time, talent and treasure in Christ-like service within our parish community and beyond. We seek God s blessing and guidance to be faithful to this mission.

He will send a replacement for David, someone who "shall do what is right and just in the land," believed by most to mean Jesus. Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 3:12 4:2 Paul encourages the Thessalonians to be ready for the coming of the Lord. He explains that although they are conducting themselves in a way that would please God, they should always strive to do even better. Gospel: Luke 21:25-28, 34-36 Jesus warns his followers to be prepared for the end of the world. He reminds them not to be preoccupied with unimportant events, or they will be caught unaware rather than being on watch as they should. 2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc. It is a time for penance and reflection on the gift of salvation. Let not this time overburden us so that we may celebrate Christmas with true joy. Prayer for the Unborn Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child, that I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion. (Please offer this prayer daily for the unborn.)

From the desk of Fr. Ginel First Sunday of Advent On this First Sunday of Advent we are reminded that although things might look bleak around us, God has made a promise He will keep, that salvation awaits all those who follow the way of the One he will send. He will be from the house of David, in accordance with the promise He made to David that one from his lineage will sit on his throne and would rule in his place. We see this alluded to in the first reading from the Prophet Jeremiah. It was to King David that God assured, that one day, one of his offspring will establish a kingdom that would last forever! God made this promise and He would keep it. This anointed King would be righteous and just thus leading those in his Kingdom to a right relationship with God. St. Paul, in his 1 st letter to the Thessalonians, our second reading, encourages them to be ever vigilant for Jesus coming. This vigilance consists in keeping to the way of Christ by following him faithfully, even to the extent of constantly improving their fidelity to him, as a preparation for their encounter with him when he comes again in Glory. When we look at today s Gospel, Jesus expresses the importance of his followers to not be overly concerned about things that have little import in what matters most at the end of the world. What will matter most for us at the end of the world, or for that matter, at the end of our lives, will not be what we have gained on earth in the way of material goods but what we have amassed for ourselves in the way, of spiritual treasures. Our Lord Himself has pointed this out to us when he said to his disciples, amass for yourselves treasure in heaven. What is this treasure? It will be the glory that will be ours for lives lived in holiness, generosity and all of the facets of love. Then will we truly be prepared for the end, or if sooner, a wonderful and loving encounter with our Lord forever in the kingdom of heaven. A blessed Advent season to all, Father Ginel St. Patrick s Religious Education News The Religious Ed. Shamrocks Program is looking for more aide volunteers to assist with the program. If you would like to volunteer or for more information, please call the office at (845) 928-6688. ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY NEWS Advent wreaths and candles will be available for purchase after masses during the weekends of Nov. 21-22 & 28-29. We meet between 7:30 and 9:00 pm in Room 10 of the Parish Center.
