Divine Treasure Poured Out On The Line 2 Corinthians 4:7 Association Week of Prayer May 20-27, 2018 Be devoted to one another with mutual love...persist in prayer. Romans 12:10-12 May 2018 Volume MMXVIII No. 5 San Jacinto Baptist Association is a community of churches uniting believers to reflect Christ through encouragement, education and resources in making disciples for the glory of God s Kingdom.

Something To Think About Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director May 20-27 is the Week of Prayer for the Association among Southern Baptists. An association of churches finds its origin in the Book of Acts. Specifically, Acts 15:6-22, concerning the Jerusalem Council and the churches coming together to discuss the theological issue of baptism. According to Walter Shurden, in 1707 the first Baptist Association was organized in Philadelphia under four unifying factors of cooperation: (1) a desire to preserve the Baptist Tradition doctrinally; (2) a desire for fellowship; (3) the passion for evangelism; and (4) scattered congregations yearning to belong to the same church. In sharing in doctrinal unity, fellowship and evangelistic concerns; the cooperating churches realized that by cooperating together more could be accomplished toward God s kingdom mission than through separated, isolated sister congregations. Our Mission statement is as follows: San Jacinto Baptist Association is a community of churches uniting believers to reflect Christ through encouragement, education, and resources to make disciples for the glory of God's Kingdom. As Lee Walker the former Director of Mission would say, We are churches doing together what no one church can do alone. As your Associational staff pray for you, we ask that you pray for us. As an insert in the On the Line you are being provided a Prayer Guide for the Week of Prayer for Associational Missions. Would you take a few moments each day and pray for these daily concerns. It is a joy to serve the churches of San Jacinto Baptist Association. Training Opportunity! Block Party Trailer May 9 at 9:00 am SJBA Mission Center, 1020 Birdsong, Baytown Trainees will receive best practices on the use and care of the Block Party Trailer and equipment. The Block Party Event is a an opportunity for churches to get outside the walls of the church, interact with their community by building relationships and lead lost individuals to Jesus Christ. For more information about this special training opportunity, call 281-422-3604 or email us at sjba@sanjacintobaptist.com. Or, visit our website for more information www.sanjacintobaptist.com For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment NET Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another. 11 Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer. SJBA is comprised of churches that are both new and old some came into existence almost 100 years ago, while others have been around only a few years. But each of these congregations share this heritage: God laid it on the heart of some people to plant it, and many people prayed for it as it came to life as a local expression of the Body of Christ. An on-going emphasis in our association is regular and faithful prayer for each of our churches and the people who lead them. May 20-27 is the Week of Prayer for Associational Missions, and I want to urge you and your church to join us as we pray for the ministries of our cooperating congregations. Paul s counsel to the Romans represents a strong word of encouragement to remember that we are bound by a common mission: taking the Gospel to the people in our area. The great missionary-evangelist often called on the people in one congregation to support those in another, and this week of shared prayer is one way we can follow his example. A Prayer Guide is available to help you be specific in your expressions of support. Please join your SJBA staff in faithfully praying for our churches, especially during this week. As you are thinking and praying for the churches of SJBA, please remember that the resources we use for providing training, support, and special emphases for pastors, staff, leaders, and members all come from the churches contributions to the association. Our constitution defines a cooperating member church as one that is sound in doctrine, participates regularly, and contributes financially. Would you consider giving 2-3 cents from every dollar given to your church? In this week of special emphasis on the work of your association, remember that our efforts to support all our churches depend on your faithful cooperation. Thank you. hurch afety & ecurity SJBA Mission Center August 25th 9:00 am Presented by: David Alford (Baytown Assistant Chief of Police) Robert Monaghans (Executive Vice President of Hibbs Hallmark Insurance)
