He will be missed. I thank all who helped out with the Lodge clean up. It looks much better. This year we had hamburgers and hot dogs for Armed Forces Day. Thanks to all that made this happen. It is what Elkdom is about. Our Lodge marched in the Glastonbury Memorial Day Parade. If you were not there you missed a great time. A big thank you to those who were there. The annual fishing derby is on June 10 th and we will have the Flag Day Ceremony on June 14 th. Did you know that the Elks started Flag Day? Learn more about the Elks at www.elks.org, www.ctelks.org and our Lodge site http:// glastonburyelks.org. Thank you to the Breakfast Committee, the number of attendees keeps getting better and the food is great. Make sure you stop by when it resumes in the fall. Friday night dinners have been good and thanks to all who prepared and those that attended. Have you been to a restaurant lately? Did you note the prices? Lodge dinners are a bargain and have a home feel you don t get in a restaurant. We had a new class come in at the end of May and another will be at the end of June. Make sure you say hi and welcome our new members and encourage them to get active. In last month s Upstart we began the Committee Corner which lists committee chairman, and their contact information. I am proud to announce it was well received by membership as many of the committee chairs have been contacted. So make sure you take up my challenge. Mon. As in the past we invite you to bring any hand gun of any caliber and try your hand at "Picking Off" the sticks. Just learning to shoot, no problem we have plenty of experienced and responsible coaches to help you along. Come out and spend some fun time with like minded shooting enthusiasts. The retaining wall has been completed near the back door. I moved it back about four feet in hopes of moving the propane tank from its current position. I will work with the trustees in regard to this project. Now with this one out of the way, I d like to concentrate on other projects. This class will include all those applications I ve received to date (May 27th), and read on the floor of the Lodge. Any application not read on the floor cannot be considered. More than likely the Lodge will not be doing another initiation until September. June 14, 2014, 1:00PM at the Lodge. The annual ceremony will be held in the hall. Once again the Boy Scouts will be acting as our color guard.
