25th Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 It s hard to believe that this weekend autumn arrives. We ve had quite an eventful year at Our Lady of Lourdes. For me, the highlight of the year is the dedication and move into our new church. We ve almost completed our landscaping. Doesn t the grass make a big difference? A very generous donor has allowed us to do much needed work on the shrine. The stone wall has been cleaned and treated, new lighting is being installed, the statues of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette will be repaired and repainted. New landscaping and benches will also be a part of the project. It's time for us to do another pictorial directory which will include our new church dedication. Our current directory was completed in 2009. I know many of you by name. I recognize all of you facially, but often it is a challenge for me to connect a name with a face. I know that I m not alone in that challenge. For that reason, I find the directory to be very helpful. Often, when I look at a picture, I think to myself, So that s his/her name. We will begin the process of scheduling appointments for pictures on October 1. Please watch the bulletin for details. I know that it is one more thing to do in our already full schedules, but I strongly encourage all of you to have your picture taken. There is no charge for the photo. If you choose, you may purchase the picture that will appear in our directory, but you are under no obligation to do so. Finally, I was elected Dean of the St. Luke Deanery. This week I received a letter from Bishop Thomas confirming the results of the election. The term is for a period of three years. Have a great week. Father Joseph Cardone Men s Club Saturday Breakfast with Guest Speaker Toledo Police Chief George Kral Our Lady of Lourdes Men s Club is proud to host a breakfast with parishioner and Toledo Police Chief George Kral on Saturday October 14 at 8:30a.m. in the Parish Life Center. Join us as Chief Kral speaks about Toledo s crime rate, heroin epidemic, and gun violence. Learn how we as Catholics and citizens can help reduce these problems in our community. This is a free event and a hot breakfast will be served. Any free will donations will help support the We Build Campaign.
