You will become an active participant in one of the essential responsibilities of a church community. You will assist in bringing Christ to others. You will practice stewardship. You become a role model. Being a catechist brings joy. You'll get back much more than you give! It has been a long tradition at St. Francis of Assisi that many individuals in our community have offered their time and talent to our Faith Formation Program. Without these generous people our program would cease to exist. Volunteering in our Faith Formation Program is a wonderful way to share how God has blessed you. We are in need of caring women and men of faith who will respond to this request and share the beauty of our Catholic faith with the young people of our parish. If not you, who? Catechists will be commissioned on Catechetical Sunday, which is Sunday September 20 th, at the 9:30 A.M. Mass. All our students, parents and parishioners are welcome to attend this Mass as we prayerfully begin our Faith Formation year. There will be coffee and donuts available after the 9:30 A.M. Mass, so come on downstairs and meet our wonderful teachers of the faith! By our baptism, Catholics are committed to following Jesus Christ and to be "salt for the earth, light for the nations." As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, "It is necessary that all participate, according to his position and role, in promoting the common good. This is inherent in the dignity of the human person... As far as possible citizens should take an active part in public life" (nos. 1913-1915).
