M E M O R A N D U M TO: FROM: Team Pastors, WMU Leaders, Mission Leaders Sue Hodnett and the WMU Leadership DATE: October 2014 RE: 2014 Week of Prayer for International Missions & Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Supporting one missionary overseas costs an average of $140 per day. Every penny of the Lottie Moon offering goes to the IMB overseas budget, which directly supports missionaries and their work. The challenge for Christmas 2014 (June 2014-June 2015) is to give $175 million to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. The total for 2013 reached an all time high of $154 million. That was good news for more than 4,800 Southern Baptist missionaries worldwide who depend on the offering to fund their efforts to spread the Gospel. Enclosed in this packet you will find, in English, samples of promotional materials for the 2014 Week of Prayer for International Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. In this packet you will find: 1 Poster, 20 Offering Envelopes, and 20 Daily Prayer Guides. Complete this form for additional and/or language posters, offering envelopes and prayer guides. Nov 21- Nov 22 Y E C Twenty :: Fourteen Ed s Letter YEC 2014 is coming Nov. 21-22, 2014 and this year the theme is Do Something. Let God Do Something In You and Through You. James 1:22 "But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." We will be meeting Friday evening and Saturday morning and have a mission project for Saturday afternoon. On Friday night hundreds of young people will gather at Westside Church in Flushing, Michigan to worship and be challenged by God's Word The cost will be $20.00 and includes all program fees, Pizza, Genesys Rec Center, mission project and give a ways. Also included this year is a special Saturday morning breakfast wraps freshly made. It's going to be a great time this year as we come together to let God Do Something in us and through us. There will be awesome music, worship, sharing, preaching, and ministry. Matt Wagner Band will again be leading our worship sessions. Matt is a passionate worship leader who works with many musicians to lead students and adults alike to worship in awe of the one who makes us strong. Their musical talent and passion for Christ is contagious as they serve their God. Wade Morris will be sharing God's Word with us each session challenging us to let God Do Something in and through us. Wade combines sound Biblical truth, insight into the Word, humor to make his teachings attractive and effective. This combination allows Wade to not only evangelize those outside the church, but also deepen the faith of students all over America as well as several other parts of the world. Friday evening the students will be challenged to let God Do Something in their lives and accept Him as Savior and Lord of their life. Next they will be challenged to let Him Do Something through their life. Also this year we will be partnering with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to help them prepare food boxes for needy families. We want each church to collect and bring blankets and hats to share with people in need. We will all be working at their brand new ministry center and warehouse facility. So be sure and check out our website, www.yecmi.com for all the details including registration and hotel info. We will still have tons of fun, lots of Pizza and pop Friday night, Breakfast Saturday morning, and great give-aways for students and youth groups. So come to YEC 2014 and see how good it can be to let God "Do Something. For more information and registration check the website, www.yecmi.com. 2015 Multi Associational Winter Youth Retreat Jan. 30-Feb 1 $80.00 per person Featured Speaker: Zac Weaks Great Worship! Cool Music! Fun Breakout Sessions! Fun Games! Ephesians 3:17 Free Camp Shirt!

Rooted Ephesians 3:17 Dear Youth Leaders and Pastors, A few weeks ago I was sitting by a campfire with some of our youth who had invited some of their Muslim friends to come along for our annual youth campout. During the night there was a discussion about our faith vs. theirs. As much as my own youth tried to share their faith and convince those boys that they needed Christ, it was frustrating because of the questions that were asked that my youth were not prepared to give an answer to. I have a feeling that most of us today would be in the same shape as those young Christian youths trying to defend their faith. There has never been a more important time to be grounded in the Word of God than now. We want to encourage you to sign as many of your students up for this year s Multi-Associational Winter Youth Retreat. The theme of our retreat is: Rooted, the dates are, January 30-February 1, 2015. Zac Weaks will be our featured speaker this year. Zac grew up in our church and went away to college only to find that things became a little rough. There is a need to be grounded in your faith because you are bombarded daily with things that try to test you and your beliefs. Zac grew up attending youth retreats at Bambi Lake so he will be able to relate to the students. We have been able to keep the cost of the retreat the same as it has been the last few years: $80.00 per person ($60.00 Bambi Lake, $20.00 program cost.) Remember, there will be no meal on Friday night or Sunday afternoon. Everyone needs to bring their own blankets and linen. You will need to send in a deposit of $40.00 per person no later than January 10. Please send your deposit money and your camper list to: Bambi Lake Baptist Retreat and Conference Center, Box 487, Roscommon, MI. 48653. The remainder of the cost will be due when you come to camp on January 30. There will be a $5.00 late charge for all reservations after the deadline. Please make all checks payable to the BSCM. Please encourage your students to come. Please do not stay home if you only have a couple who are interested in coming to camp. Bring them! Who knows what God will do? Pray for those who are leading out this year and for our planning team. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me at: 734-355-7720 or randyweaks@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Randy Weaks

Featuring: Jim McNiel The Walking Bible McNiel, a long-time Southern Baptist and member of Tower Grove Baptist Church, St. Louis, has reached the middle-age segment of life filled with vigor, excitement and a memory bank that includes much of the New Testament. McNiel, who has spent much of his life working as a music evangelist, is now using this special gift of memory to share God s Word. He recently returned from Bombay, India, where plans were completed for a Dec. 3-6 crusade. McNiel said Indian crusade organizers are promising crowds of at least 200,000 nightly. "My life has been a vacation," McNiel said. "I have so much peace and contentment, but I still long to have others come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. For Details go to register.bscm.org

Featuring: Gary Miller Outdoor Truths Ministries For over eighteen years Gary served as the Senior Pastor of the Pump Springs Baptist Church in Harrogate Tennessee, a ministry minded church that reached men and women for Christ in unique ways. In 2003 Gary began pursuing his desire to write a newspaper column to hunters and fishermen that would lead them to contemplate their relationship with their Creator. His writing provided opportunities to speak to these same hunters and fishermen at events such as Beast Feasts. The results were men giving their lives to Christ. God began to move on Gary's heart challenging him to step out in faith into this ministry on a full time basis. Even though he was not raised in a hunting or fishing home, Gary has followed his heart to the water and woods since he was a child. What started on the banks of the local canal catching carp, now extends to every part of his life as he aims outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen toward Christ. For Details go to register.bscm.org
