CONCORDIA S PURPOSE To Make the Love of Jesus R.E.A.L. in the Lives of All People EASTER SUNDAY RESURECTION OF OUR LORD March 27, 2016 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. 1 AS WE GATHER Without Easter, there is no hope. Without Easter, there is no real life. Simply put, without Easter, there s no Christianity. The Resurrection of Our Lord is the day on which the Church throughout the world celebrates the new reality we are given because Christ Jesus is indeed risen from the dead, never to die again! For many people, Easter Day is no different from any other day, except perhaps for a few special traditions involving a bunny, a ham, and an egg hunt for the kids. We know better, don t we? And we have a blessed opportunity today, don t we? As we gather for worship this morning, we confess our risen Lord and His saving Gospel before the world! May the world know what we know! Without Easter, we have nothing. Yet with Easter and because of Easter, we have everything! Forgiveness and new life are ours in Christ both to receive and to share! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! means to be seated means to stand, unless repeated standing is difficult [P: Pastor] [C: Congregation] (10:45) CHOIR ANTHEM Crown Him Lord This Easter Day! CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION Romans 6:10 11 P: In the confidence and joy of Easter, let us confess our sins to God, our Father. Merciful Father, C: we confess to You that we are nothing apart from You. Your Word describes us as spiritually blind, deaf, and dead by our very nature without Your saving grace. In our thoughts, words, and actions, we have acted as if we do not need You. But we are wrong dead wrong! Forgive us, Father, for our many sins against You and against one another. By the mercy You show us in the sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ, remind us again of the new life and salvation You have freely given. Cleanse and renew us by Your grace that we may rise to newness of life with our risen Lord and Savior. Amen. (We take a moment of silence to reflect on our sin and our need for the Savior.) P: For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Upon this your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. 3

ALL: Almighty God the Father, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life + everlasting. Amen. We invite the children forward as we sing: LSB #725, v. 3 Neither life nor death shall ever From the Lord His children sever; Unto them His grace He showeth, And their sorrows all He knoweth. Then take the Host from the pastor, after which you may eat or dip the Host into the chalice. You may also sip from the chalice or the small cups after you have received the Host.) AGNUS DEI
COMMUNION INVITATION The Lord's Supper is celebrated at this congregation in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes. Because those who eat and drink our Lord's body and blood unworthily do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, are unclear on what all this means, or who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, are encouraged to seek guidance from the pastor.
