REV. TIM PLAVAC Looking Toward Lent: Once again this year we invite parishioners to bring in their old palms to be used to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday, February 14th. Please place them in the basket in the Gathering Space. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION and FORMATION Report Cards: Report cards and second semester schedules are being distributed to elementary students this week. Please take time to go over your child s report card and spend some time over the coming months helping them to learn the required prayers and practices. Please be sure to read the letter about the Called to Protect TM Program being taught to all elementary classes. Thank you. Middle School/Senior High PSR Mailing: Attendance reports, 2nd semester schedules and letters will be mailed out this week. Information for the Called Protect TM Program for families of 7th graders will also be included in this mailing. Confirmation Session: Confirmation candidates usually meet the first Sunday of the month. However, since next Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday, we will instead meet on February 11th. Join one of St. Bede s small faith-sharing groups! Today s Disciples Faith Sharing Groups are gathering for reflection and discussion of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Sunday Gospels. You can do this by either placing them in the collection baskets during Mass or the designated gold box located on a table in the Gathering Space. If you were not in town during Christmas or have lost your handouts, more can be found on the table next to the gold box. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! YMM St. Bede s Youth Group Pre-Baptism Class: If you are expecting or have recently welcomed your first child into your family, a Pre-Baptism class is required before the baptism of your child. Class will be offered as needed. Please call the Parish Office at 440-257-5544 to register. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: Baptisms are celebrated on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sunday at 12:00 Noon, and should be scheduled at least one month in advance. New parents are required to attend a prebaptism class which is offered every other month. Please call the Parish Office to register. PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION Pre-School: Sunday during 11:00 AM Mass Grades 1-5: Tuesday 4:15 PM Grades 1-6: Tuesday 6:00 PM Grades 6-12: Tuesday 7:45 PM RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION: A process of inquiry and introduction of Gospel values and an opportunity for the nurturing of faith for adults and children. Entry to the program is ongoing. Call the Parish Office for more information. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Marriage preparation must begin at least six months prior to wedding, although a one-year preparation time is preferable. FUNERAL PLANNING: Funeral Liturgies can be pre-planned. Contact Fr. Tim to select readings and music. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Parish Pastoral Council meets on the First Wednesday of oddnumbered months at 7:00 PM in the Library.

Save the Date: St. Mary of the Assumption School Open House is Sunday, February 4th following the 10:00 AM Mass until 1:00 PM. Come see what makes this school a family! Breadth of Life Luncheon: Pray, Hope and Don t Worry will be Cindy Russo s topic at the February 14th Breadth of Life luncheon. Cindy is the U.S. Representative for the Disciples of Padre Pio in Rome, Italy. A three-year-old relative with terminal cancer was cured when Padre Pio answered a prayer request to intercede for the child s healing. Cindy, who owns a chalice used by Padre Pio in the 1960s, will share the chalice and her amazing story of faith around the world. The luncheon will be held at St. Noel s Parish Hall in Willoughby Hills from Noon to 2:00 PM. Cost is $18 per person, which includes tossed salad, lemon pepper cod, parsley redskin potatoes, vegetables and dessert. All are welcome. Mardi Gras Fundraiser: To support the human formation of the seminarians at Saint Mary Seminary, the Student Activities Staff and the seminarians are hosting a Mardi Gras fundraiser in order to have monetary resources to use for various formational community activities throughout the year. The Mardi Gras fundraiser is held on the campus of the Center for Pastoral Leadership and features great food in New Orleans style, raffle opportunities, and an overall good time. This year, the seminarians Mardi Gras fundraiser will be held on Friday, February 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
