In 1999, the Ecclesiastical Province of Miami obtained permission from the Vatican to change the celebration of the Feast of the Ascension from Thursday to the following Sunday, which is the 7 th Sunday of Easter. This applies to all the Dioceses in Florida. We celebrate the Feast of the Ascension this weekend. We wish all the mothers in our parish a blessed Mother s Day! Confirmation The sacrament of Confirmation will be held in our parish on Sunday, May 27 th, at our regularly scheduled 5:30 Mass. The attendance at Confirmation usually fills the church. You are encouraged to attend one of our other scheduled Mass- The Parish extends its congratulations to the family of Bryleigh Marie Starling, who was recently baptized.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship Award The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship to a 2018 graduating senior to attend a college or a trade school of their choice. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit - John 3:34 It s important for us to remember the great things that God has done for us. Often we become consumed with our daily struggles and forget all that that Lord has done. We may also only focus on God not doing what we want of him. One of the blessings of the Holy Spirit is that the Spirit reminds us what Jesus said and what he has done for us. There is no limit to what God has done or what he desires to do in our lives. Around the Diocese... Marriage Preparation Marriage Preparation: To schedule a wedding, an engaged couple must meet with their parish priest or deacon at least eight months before their proposed wedding date. Preparation for the sacrament includes attending a diocesan program such as Engaged Encounter or Pre Cana. Also, couples of child-bearing age will need to take a full course of Natural Family Planning. Pre-registration for each of these programs is mandatory. The next Engaged Encounter program will be- June 22 nd -24 th at Marywood Retreat Center. The next Pre Cana program will be June 2 nd in Jacksonville. THEY MIGHT BE SAINTS EWTN Airs Documentary on the Florida Martyrs on June 6, at 10:00 pm, famed "Miracle Hunter" Michael O'Neill's original EWTN series They Might Be Saints will air a special one-hour episode on the courageous and heroic witnesses who gave their lives for the Catholic faith during the Spanish missionary period. The cause for the Martyrs of la Florida was formally opened on October 12, 2015, in Tallahassee and is currently being prepared for submission to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome This episode of They Might Be Saints was filmed on location at various sites in Florida and includes interviews with expert witnesses including Bishop Estévez. Before the episode s debut on June 6, Father Mitch Pacwa will have as his guests on EWTN Live at 8:00 p.m. Father Len Plazewski, vice-postulator for the Florida Martyrs cause and Heather Jordan, who serves on the Board of the Martyrs of La Florida Missions, Inc.
