Congratulations! Chris Pettit - Provisional Member 2018 CONFERENCE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND CAMPUS MINISTRY SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS Merit Scholarship Winners Vonica Molock Voncia will be graduating from North Dorchester High School in Hurlock, MD with a weighted GPA of 4.17 and will be attending Morgan State University to study multi-platform production. Her life s passion is to be a television producer and eventually own her own production company, FGM Productions. Through her education and career path, Voncia aspires to promote diversity, acceptance, and inclusion through media and art that breaks stereotypes. She also plans on coming back to her home church after college to help contribute to necessary repairs and invest in future generations by opening a Boys and Girls Club. Through a ministry of art and a calling to work in media and production Voncia wants to bring positive messages and hope into the world around her. Voncia is a member of Waters UMC in Vienna, MD. Wesley Foundation Scholarship Winner Rachel Pettit Rachel has a heart for justice and compassion that has its roots in her service to and through her home church of Centreville United Methodist Church and has continued through her first year at St. Mary s College of Maryland in St. Marys City, MD. Participating in mission trips, youth group, volunteering, and taking advantage of service opportunities through her life in The United Methodist Church has led to her passion of advocating and working for social justice. Her plan is to join the Peace Corps and hopefully serve somewhere in Africa. Rachel is utilizing every opportunity to learn and train for her calling to care for those in need in any way she can.

First ever Preston Walk for Water! The Preston Walk for Water took place on May 26 th at the Preston Town Park. A total of 84 participants walked or ran 3.7 miles to provide clean water for children around the world! A total of $4300 was raised for the cause. We are estimating 100 children will receive the life-changing gift of sustainable clean water through this event! It was a great day of family fun for all ages. The Preston Walk for Water was a mission project of the new Preston Ministerium. Last year, four Preston area churches came together with the goal to support each other in ministry, and to make a bigger impact in our community, believing we really are better together. This event was a great success because of the partnership formed between Bethesda UMC, Mt. Calvary UMC, Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, all of Preston. Rev. Darlene Dixon, Rev. David Casey -Motley and Rev. Linda Pevey get ready to send the participants on their way. They re off! Finish line celebrations Rev. Darlene Dixon on the course. Some needed a helping hand across the line, but everyone made it!
