MDO Xtreme March was a busy month at MDO. We celebrated our 50th day of school by dressing in 1950 s theme! The students wore everything from poodle skirts, to white t-shirts, rolled up jeans, sunglasses, and Mom tattoos. One family went as far as making their own MDO Xtreme vest to wear! We loved everyone s creativity and enthusiasm! A couple of weeks ago, we hosted an MDO Sausage Sizzle and thanks to the people and businesses of our community, we made over $1500 for MDO! Thank you! During the month of April, we will be celebrating Easter through crafts, books, songs, and Bible stories. Our annual Easter party and egg hunt are on April 11th. More photos to come!
To the congregations of First United Methodist Church of Jacksboro and The Parish, After a period of careful reflection I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to resign as the youth director. My last Sunday will be May 21, 2017. This has been a very difficult decision for me. It is hard to recognize limitations that God has put on how much I can handle, and even harder to realize that I cannot meet the needs of this group of extraordinary young people. I have greatly enjoyed the chance to get to know the youth of Jacksboro and families in both congregations. I want to see the youth group thrive, and I believe that it would be selfish to try to continue when I know I don t have the time and energy to devote to developing it. I have accepted a position with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) in Dallas. Although the churches and BBBS have been understanding and helpful in this transition, I do not believe I can do my best at either job while my time and focus are split between the two. I want to thank everyone in both congregations for welcoming me so fully into this community. I m proud of how the congregations support the youth. I will do my best to ensure the smoothest transition possible, and I am committed to continuing to lead the youth through May 2017. I have been fortunate to have worked with these congregations and with this youth group for so long, and I am sure great things are to come. Sincerely, Kristine Tisinger
Nick Hi, I'm Nick Koontz and I'm excited to be joining the ministry going on at the Parish! I grew up in Lubbock and went to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where I studied biology and evolutionary anthropology. It was in Albuquerque where I found the Disciples of Christ and was enamored by their ethos. Until then, I had not known that churches could be a source of love and peace for all of God's people! After college, I tried a few routes in biology and chemistry, but felt a call to go into ministry; leading me to Brite in Fort Worth in 2015. As I continued in seminary, I have been honored to work with the PC(USA), but wanted to be back with the Disciples (and the Methodists have an uncanny ability to keep my heart strangely warmed), so I'm excited for this opportunity to be with you all! When I'm not studying, I like playing guitar and cello, reading, riding my bike, and working on contemplative prayer exercises. I look forward to working and worshiping alongside you all, starting this fall! Peace, Nick

Rev. Dr. Suzanne Castle Did you know that we LIVESTREAM to up to 400 people every week from THE PARISH on a Sunday morning? And what does that mean? Well, it means that we are reaching more and more people every week who aren t in our pews, but are interested in our ministry efforts! How exciting is that? We use FACEBOOK to posts live broadcasts of our weekly scriptures and sermons and it s easy to access. But we need YOUR help! First let me ask you a question: Have you LIKED our Facebook Page?
