Chrysalis Flights to be held in January At one of the last Walks, I was asked how we hold both boy's and girl's Chrysalis at the same time. This person asked if we had both the boys and girls in one big conference room. Although some Chrysalis groups do it that way, Pioneer Country Chrysalis does not. PC Chrysalis has two separate conference rooms and teams, one for the girls and one for the boys. Each team prepares separately, just as we do for the Walks to Emmaus. The support teams do combine so that we have one kitchen crew, one dining room coordinator, one agape coordinator and one logistics (TAs) team. But we have separate conference rooms and each team has its own prayer room. The boys and girls only come together a few times during the flights. Of course they see each other at Send-Off. They eat meals together, but we seat the girls at one end of the dining room and the boys at the other end, with the table of servants in the middle. Both groups come together at Candlelight, but once the community has left the sanctuary, the two groups split up again. They may see each other on breaks, but not very often, since the boy's flight will have everything on the fourth floor and the girls primarily on the third floor. Also, showers are on a scheduled basis; girls certain hours and boys certain hours. The two groups come together one last time for Closing. In order to accommodate the church, Chrysalis is on a little different schedule than the Walk to Emmaus. We start with Send-Off on Wednesday evening (Jan 1). Candlelight is on Friday night (Jan 3 8:00PM) with the caterpillars coming in at 9:00PM instead of 10:00PM. Closing will be Saturday (Jan 4) at 4:00 PM. All of this will be at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church at 419 S. University Blvd. in Norman, OK. The Flights will be held January 1 - January 4, 2014. The Lay Director for the Girl s Flight is Catrina Bourne and the Lay Director for the Boy s Flight is Marvin Scheele. (see rest of story on next page )

(continued from page 2 ) Every person on the conference room and support teams 18 years old or older MUST have Safe Sanctuary forms and an OSBI background check. Each person will be checked in at the front desk to see if they have this security information on file. This is not needed if you are only visiting one of the prayer rooms or attending one of the fourth day services, Sendoff, Candlelight, or Closing. Safe Sanctuary and OSBI forms, as well as Caterpillar applications, can be found on the community website, www.pioneercountryemmaus.com, at the bottom of the home page. All boys and girls who have finished their first semester freshman year of high school through and including freshman year of college are welcome.
