2017 ST. THERESA CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FINANCIAL REPORT November 19, 2017
From Father Phil My Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Theresa, Happy Thanksgiving. I hope that this year fills you and those you love with a deep down sense of gratitude for all that we have received this year. I want to thank God for finding me a more permanent home in Houston as a result of my becoming a United States Citizen in July. I know that for a number of our parishioners and school families were presented challenges due to Hurricane Harvey. This challenge has been shared with far too many people throughout the States and to many islands throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Mother Nature has a way of being an equalizer, reminding us that we are not alone. The 17th century poet John Donne reminds us: " Do not ask for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee." As people of faith we are reminded almost daily of needless and senseless deaths because of guns. Together might we pray that action is taken to end all too many unnecessary deaths and heartache. As followers of Jesus, may we be as strident about this important issue with the same commitment as we have been with other Christians and people of good will against abortion. We have much to pray for and ponder as we fulfill our commitment to the truth of the message of Jesus. I am grateful, as your pastor, for the commitment that so many of you make regularly to the upkeep of our parish and its ministries. I hope that you find useful the financial presentation for the last financial year found in this bulletin. Without your weekly contribution to our Sunday collection or through electronic giving, our parish would not survive. We are entirely dependent on you, the People of God, for the services that we provide to our parishioners and to the upkeep of the facilities. At this time please pray about your level of support and consider increasing your level of giving. If you are not please consider giving electronically as this type of giving makes out budget planning easier. During times of difficulties, I hope you continue to see the importance we give to prayer and celebration of the sacraments as well and how we translate that faith, making it real in our relationships and in our many and active ways within in our city and beyond. I thank God for those of you whose work reflects Jesus's command to do lovingly all that you do. I end this letter with a grateful heart for your love and generosity. It is an exciting time to be your pastor. May God bless you with a grateful heart that is experienced through your words and actions. With every good wish, Fr. Phil Lloyd Pastor
