Dear Sisters and Brothers, A French poet once said that every time we say goodbye, we die a little. Then I must ve died a little because I ve been saying my goodbyes to you since April. Some of you may already be asking, when is this guy really leaving? Well, this is my last weekend of ministry here at St. Martin s, for sure this time. Although I m looking forward to my ministry in the Philippines, I will certainly miss all of you. Once again, thank you all for your kindness, generosity and charity. Your new pastor, Fr. Elmer Mandac, will take good care f you when he comes back from his sabbatical leave on October 1. In the interim, Fr. Danny, Fr. Pedro and Fr. Uche will take care of most of the sacramental needs of our parish. Fr. Jim and Fr. Sessions will also be helping. I am very grateful to all of them. I would now like to quote St. Paul s parting words in Acts 20:32, when he said goodbye to the people in Miletus: And now I commend you to God and to that gracious word of his that can build you up and give you the inheritance among all who are consecrated. I will always remember you in my prayers. Please keep me in yours. God willing, we ll see each other again. Peace and blessings, Fr. Chris Kintanar TODAY S READINGS First Reading This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you (Exodus 24:3-8) Psalm I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord (Psalm 116). Inscriptions can include names, dates, quotes. These bricks are available in two sizes: 4X8 (donation $100) and 8X8 (Donation $175) Order forms are available in the vestibule of the church. SAINT MARTIN S WOMEN S CLUB The Women s Club would like to thank the parishioners of St. Martin for their support of the successful Spring Food and Craft Faire. We are also planning a Fall Food and Craft Fair in October. Anyone who is interested should contact Gloria Felix at 805-766-2268. EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST Our Church is in great need of your compassion, prayers and time to share God s love and serve our neighbor. Saint Martin of Tours Homebound Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist serve in a very special and loving way by bringing Holy Communion (Body of Christ) prayers and time to those who are sick, too infirmed or hospitalized to attend Holy Mass. Volunteering your time is one of the most rewarding ways for doing God s work. Join us and help us bring comfort and the healing power of Christ in the Eucharist to the homebound and sick. Training and guidance are provided. For more information contact Deacon Al via email at: DeaconAl@saintmartinoftours.cc or 619.465.5334 Ladies of the parish are invited to the final meeting before resuming on September 7th. There was a lot of hammering going on! The mother, Theresa (Tere) is 33 and earns about $40 dollars a week cu ng hair on her property. She helps support the family of 4 along with her husband. We would like to replace the shack that she uses for her beauty salon with a similar sized building that would have a salon chair and mirrors. The cost is $2400. We have collected $1200 so far and have secured a used salon chair. If you are interested in helping the family, please make a check payable to St. Mar n of Tours and in the memo line: BAM salon for Tere. Checks and/or cash maybe put in the loose change boxes at the entrances to the church. Pictures of the family and those parishioners who have come out to work are on St. Mar n of Tours Facebook page and on the website under social jus ce ministry. If you have any ques ons please contact Jerry Crouch at jcrouch566@cox.net. Thank you to all who have made a dona on to BAM. This opportunity to li a family out of poverty would not be possible without your support. - Social Jus ce Ministry MISSION COOPERATIVE PLAN APPEAL The Appeal for the Mission Cooperative Plan at the Masses on, Saturday and Sunday, June 9 & 10 will benefit the Lay Mission Helpers Association. Founded in 1955, Lay Mission-Helpers Association trains, sends and supports lay people (single, married couples, families) to serve in overseas Catholic mission dioceses for a minimum of 3 years. They serve in a professional capacity in areas such as health, education, administration, engineering, etc., and witness their faith by how they live their lives. Executive Director Chad Ribordy, who served with his wife and family in Brazil, will be speaking at the Masses. Page 6

ST. MARTIN OF TOURS ACADEMY June 3, 2018 Graduation at SMA! As we near the time for graduation, I cannot help reflecting on the tremendous advantage our graduating students have upon entering high school. The education they have received at St. Martin of Tours Academy, both academically and spiritually, is exceptional and of the highest quality. The Pilon Workshop Way system of education, their daily religious instruction and the teaching of both academic and life skills have prepared them well for their future goals. The teachers, staff and I are extremely proud of the Class of 2018, and we wish them much success in high school and beyond. When we say good-bye to the Class of 2018 we are also saying good-bye to some of the parents of our graduates who will no longer have children in the school. The following are also graduating and we want them to know we will miss them as parents in our school community: Elena & Michael Bertino, Pamela & Charles Brock, Erin & David Bushey, Terri & Chris Dimolios, Emily & Thomas Gould, Darlene & Steve Hastings, Theresa & Brad Hicks, Yazmin & Craig Holton, Lucila & Andrew Kahl, Kimberly & Shayne Kirkpatrick, Tawnya & Thomas Macchiarella, Kathleen & Chuck Oakey, Nikki & Jaime Paredes, Angelina Destephanis, Renee & Ramon Ruiz, Leonora & Chris Brown, Chloe Hodge & Joshua Zane. In addition to offering congratulations to the Class of 2018, I say congratulations to each parent and teacher who has instructed, guided, influenced and helped them to be better people. When the foundation is strong, the chances for success increase dramatically. I personally see this when our alums visit us and tell of their accomplishments or when a parent calls and is bursting with pride because their child has been honored in high school or college. You are all invited to the Graduation Mass next Friday, June 8th at 3pm to celebrate the Class of 2018. -Toni Dimuzio, Principal Class of 2018 Angelina Bertino, Carter Brashear, Eva Brock, Taylor Bushey, Anisa Castillo, Christopher Dimolios, Alexandria Freeman, Vincent Friend, Jesus Frutos, Grace Gadler, Thomas Gould, Kelly Hastings, Logan Hicks, Cruz Holton, Joaquin Iagmin, Morgan Kahl, Angus Kirkpatrick, Jeremy Macchiarella, Matthew Macchiarella, Nicholas Macchiarella, Shoichi McCarter, Presley McMahon, Seth Morales, Rhiannon Oakey, Helena Paredes, Jennalyn Robeniol, Carlo Ruiz, Santiago Simonovis Brown, Jade Zane Page 7
