Chantal Chatter October 2008 Page 2 From the Grand Knight Brothers, As we pass the first quarter of our Columbian Year, we can look back with pride for what we have been able to do! Being in the 4 th of July Parade, serving breakfast before and providing a cookout afterwards, made for a great day.(we will need more marchers next year to make our showing even better). We had a wet day for our Senior Picnic, but on our rain date the next Saturday we had a good turnout. I thank all who were involved in making this picnic a very happy occasion for seniors (66 attended) Thanks!! The start of our push for new members started at the Sunday Masses Oct 4/5 with a good response thanks to Kevin Hoffman and many others. The turnout for the Membership Open House was more than expected! Kevin looks forward to signing up many new members. Please remember our Chaplain Deacon Bob O Donovan in your prayers. He is still struggling with illness. Lastly, please make an effort to attend some of our meetings and put in your ideas and thoughts on how to make our Council a better place for all. Thank You!! Chantal Chatter October 2008 Page 5 12 th Annual Vinnie O Connor Memorial Charitable Golf Outing Thanks to all the golfers and supporters of this Charitable Golf Outing held on August 21, 2008 at the Clearview Golf Course. CHARITY was the name of the game and this year, 68 golfers, 66 Hole Sponsors, numerous prize donations and many volunteers raised $4,000. Again, the proceeds were donated to worthwhile local causes: HearUs Long Island, a support group for deaf and hearing-impaired children and the East Meadow Little League Challenger Division, which provides the opportunity for special children to play baseball. Birthright also received a portion of the money raised.
